decaffviper17 12-18-2007, 03:47 AM I swaped out the base HU with the Premium. When i started the car the radio was non responsive. all the connections were right. So i put the old HU in and that wont work eaither. I checked all the connection and everythings right. Fuses are fine too. I really dont want to go to the dealer and pay lots of $$$. Any suggestions on what could be the prob???? thanks
xseveredveganx 12-18-2007, 03:53 AM This may be a dumb question, but did you push the power button?
decaffviper17 12-18-2007, 04:21 AM Yes. But nothing lights up. The buttons.. nothing. Its like no power going to it
XBFred 12-18-2007, 04:37 AM another dumb question, is your key turned on? hit the am/fm button, also check the connections? do you have power in the rest of the car? dead battery?
decaffviper17 12-18-2007, 05:06 AM everything else in the car works fine. Yes i started the car... the deck just has no power. All the plugs are connected. Is there a reset on the deck itself? i checked the fuses under the hood... the are good. I have installed a few stereos in my day so i do know what im doing usually.
RyanW 12-18-2007, 05:11 AM Sound like a defective install/wiring kit. It would suck to do it all againg so I would check it all with a power light indicater.
emptystreets130 12-18-2007, 05:12 AM did you check the fuse inside the car? There is a fuse box inside the car that has a radio fuse.
decaffviper17 12-18-2007, 05:15 AM where is the fuse inside the car??????
emptystreets130 12-18-2007, 05:19 AM look underneath the driver side dash. You have to physical lay on your back looking up into the dash. You will see a fuse panel. Other than that, the owners manual will tell you where to look for the fuse box inside the car.
decaffviper17 12-18-2007, 05:26 AM I hope its that easy. i will see. If it is i wonder how it blew. thanks
RyanW 12-18-2007, 06:32 AM Fuses are pretty easy to blow. accidentally touching the wires even for a split second will do it. I've done it myself on past installs.
Zsanz 12-18-2007, 12:47 PM hold the menu button
CarbonXe 12-18-2007, 12:51 PM Get a hold of a digital multimeter and check for voltage going into the HU. If you were able to do the installation, you should know which wire going in is the power wire (only saying this because I have no clue off the top of my head which wire it is). If you have voltage going in, then that circuit is fine. Also check the voltage of the battery, if the voltage going into the HU is EXACTLY the same as battery voltage, then you have no ground (or an open somewhere along the line between the HU and ground). A DMM can be your best friend in situations like this.
swartzautoman 12-18-2007, 01:33 PM does any one know how to set up the custom stuff in the entertainment part of the menu
decaffviper17 12-18-2007, 03:14 PM Also the remote wire for turning the amp on..... is that gray wire on the far right plug. Do i just tap into it??? And are those wire on that plug for the ipod?
emptystreets130 12-18-2007, 03:23 PM ipod harness is a separate harness from the head unit harness.
decaffviper17 12-18-2007, 04:57 PM Ok a fuse is blown inside the car.. 7.5 acc fuse. That shoudl be the problem. Thanks everyone for your help!
CarbonXe 12-18-2007, 05:05 PM Check your wiring before you just go in and replace the fuse, if you've got power shorted to ground, you're just going to keep popping that fuse over and over again. The fuse blew out for a reason.
