Okay, so spring is coming up in a few months, which means it's time to boost the tC. My goal is 300whp, and I'm looking at 11psi to get to that number (I know higher is possible at 11psi, but I'm planning on having a somewhat restrictive exhaust...catted with probably 2 resonators to keep the volume down). However, I don't want to have to run at 11psi all the time, especially if it's raining/if I'm trying to get decent gas milage..etc, etc. I know they have boost controllers on the market, but how do these work with a tuned ECU, like the AEM F/I/C? If I wanted to have 3 settings, 2psi/7psi/11psi, would a boost controller like the Apexi one that everyone worships adjust my fuel trim accordingly? Or would it keep the 11psi tune and just attempt to adjust it based off the MAF? A friend of mine has a boost controller in his truck which has 5 stages, but he doesn't have it tuned, it's running off the stock ECU.
Most boost controllers only have 2 settings (never even HEARD of 5!) but the AEM F/IC can deffinatley handle it. aen and I are both using it with differnt boost controllers.
The thing is, you can only go double what your wastegate spring is and you cannot go below it. So if you have a 5psi spring, you could have one setting for 5psi and the other anywahere between 5 and 10psi. You could get a 7psi spring and have it set to 7 and 11 and you should be fine.
The F/IC as well as the greddy ultimate or blue with the pressure sensor tune off boost, so you would tune it at the highest level, then make some minor ajdustments to the same map at the lower level and your good.
You dont' need to seperate maps, it just has to be tuned to run right in all parts of the same map.

Errr, I didn't mean a boost controller in my friends truck, it's his chip which has 5 settings. Whoops.
Well, depending on what kit you get, you may only be putting down 230 or so at 7psi. I mean, it's not like it's to hard to change the boost setting. You could always get a manual controller and set it where you want...you just have to pop the hood to do it instead of hitting a button in the car. Like with mine, I just press and hold 2 buttons to get into controll mode and then I can adjust either of my settings to a different duty cycle. So I guess youcould have one at 10 and one at 14, and for the winder, just turn the 10 down to 7.

Tial has a 3.6 or a 5.8 psi spring available for the 38mm Wastegate. Actually, I guess you could get a small spring for the winter and put a biger spring in for the summer, but I think that's more trouble then it's worth!

Some kind of kit (TurboToyotas prob) - 4000
Clutch - 400
Rear Sway Bar - 200
Stiffy - 150
Tires/18's (I need tires anyway) - 800
Gauges/Controllers - 600
Tuning session - 300
But I do know the golden rule, "Don't boost on a budget". Only thing I'm really not looking forward to is the gas.

like that will happen!)
