I'm looking to buy a new head unit for my 05 box and I was wondering if anyone had/knew of a good one that i could use for movies, ipod hookup and bluetooth capabilities.
i'm looking at a price range of around 1000 or lower
thanks!

If you want a quality set up I would go with Alpine either the IVA D310 which is a single din flip out dvd player, or the W205 which is a double din touchscreen.
Both of them have options for the features you want, and IMO is the best quality HU's out there. I'm sure that there are pleanty of other opinions.

the Avic D3 is the number one seller of Pioneer headunits
if you want a full on headunit, go with the Avic Z
Kenwood, Alpine, and Pioneer are the only brands you should really get serious about.

All of the following products have CD/DVD playback, Navigation, iPod interface (either included, or by additional interface cable).
My first recommendation for an in-dash would be the Eclipse AVN5510. If you look around, you should be able to find if for a little under a grand.
Another decent in-dash is the Pioneer AVIC-D3, which would be well within your budget. The unit has a decent interface, but in my opinion, is nowhere near as clean as the Eclipse.
Kenwood has their DNX7100, which is also within your budget. It's NAV is driven by Garmin, so it should be pretty accurate.
These next three do not have any Navigation. All of them are within your price range, but, considering what they offer for the price, would be at the bottom of my list.
Kenwood KVT-719DVD - Flip-out CD/DVD/MP3 player - This unit has a nicer iPod interface than the following Alpines. Otherwise, I typically would recommend Alpine over Kenwood when it comes to car audio receivers.
Alpine IVA-W205 - In-dash CD/DVD/MP3 player
Alpine IVA-D105 - Flip-out CD/DVD?MP3 player
...hope this helps.

UV7, i noticed in your profile you list a headunit with an engine management system, which headunit would that be?
is that the one with the 3 guages that can appear on screen?
how does it wire up?

CarPCs are still relatively uncommon, but I believe they will eventually replace the common HU in every vehicle. You've probably already seen some of the commercials for the latest Fords that offer Microsoft Sync as an option. This is only the beginning.
Look at the new Eclipse 6220 (I think that's the unit) at $1300 its a little above your budget, but that's a great unit that has all the features of units that run $2500ish.
It will be replacing my Eclipse AVX-2494 soon.
