Just a little background info. I have no engine mods/intake/exhaut system etc on my car.

So i was coming home tonight and the car infront of me stopped to turn left. so naturally i went into my right lane and shifted down to 4th gear. Now here is the problem i was going really slow when i shifted into 4th (don't ask me why i didn't shift into 3rd or lower i wasn't thinking ) and i hit the gas so i could overtake him. The car just started jittering (it was because I was in a high gear and going slow) and just shut off in the middle of the street.

So i put it in neutral and tried to start it up as it was rolling but it wouldn't start, it was just cranking and cranking. finally it did start and started running normal again. but the CEL came on and refuses to go away now. i am confused as to why. any ideas.

the car is running fine as if nothing happened but the damn cel is just on.

 

Try resetting the battery by undoing it for about 5 mins. See what that does.

 

go get the CEL read.. don't just reset the battery and try to get rid of it.. it's obviously telling you that somethings wrong.

 

yeah just bring it into autozone or something and get it checked.

 

also check your gas cap (quick fix sometimes), if it's not on tight enough or properly...it could eventually cause a CEL...sometimes it even takes 100miles or so...u never know

 

does the tc have a code for a bad driver?

 

its probably going to say you have a misfire or something. have it read and reset.

 

Wow how slow were u going? You were going atleast above 40 in 5th gear, and u slowed down and went to 4th? you mind telling us how slow? Im just curious becuase alot of ppl ferget to shift down enough, Dint think you that would cuase a CEL, Ive been in 4th going at 30mph i know wat u mean, car feels a bit sluggish since yur trying to lug it at a very low rpm. Lol how slow were u going? geez, well yeah get it checked and atleast u learned, if you had to really press that much gas to go, u shulda just shifted down again.

 

i think i was below 40 mph. but any how this morning i got into the car, started it and the CEL was no more.

you got the CEL from cranking it while rolling you did everything the car didnt wont to, and it hard to reorient itself
