xm radio in 2008 tc
I bought a new (Flint Mica
) 2008 tC last October and went with the premium pioneer radio setup. I was reading through my stereo manual about setting up xm and at first glance, it appeared that all I needed to do was get my radio ID number and register it with xm when I sign up for their service.
Well, I can't figure out how to access "channel 000" on the unit, which probably makes me a bit of a tard, but I also noticed in the manual a little disclaimer box stating that I need an antenna and receiver kit to set up xm in my tC. I don't know jack about stereo systems, but I do know that my radio supports xm. Do I need to buy an antenna? Also, I thought my radio is an xm receiver? I checked scionaccessories.com for the kit and it's like $300. If I had known it was that expensive, I would've gotten the standard radio and replaced it later on. Is there a cheaper solution to get me up and running with xm?

The only thing I know of is to get the scion/xm tuner box.
You cant use an aftermarket tyoe box with this either.
You need that tuner and antenna.
You can do the FM modulation but to me thats always an eyesore and gives so-so sound.
I remember the dealer asking if I wanted Xm and I asked him how much ,he told me it was like 500 installed.
No way.
