Greetings,

The security system that came with the xB (dealer installed it as part of the sale) does not have the chirping feature when arm and disarm (like my xA has). The instruction manual says that it will chirp is the buzzer is installed). The maintenance rep said it doesn't come with one for the xB.

Can one be easily installed, and if so, exactly where is it wired into the system?

In the mean time, I'm gonna complain to the dealer .......

Good luck. I wanted to know the same thing. Scion corporate said the mention of the buzzer in the xB security manual was a "misprint" and that one is not available. I don't see why the xA and xB systems are so different that one couldn't be adapted, but I don't have the time, money or skills to give it a try. If you find anything out, let us know.

A kinda wrote a "how to" in an earlier thread, but I'm to lazy to search for it. . . it's a pain in the butt, but doable.

I find alarm chirping annoying and a bit obnoxious - I'm glad my xB is silent :P

yeah, Kinda lame...I just wanted mine to make the same tone as other toyotas w/ keyless entry... but I came to the same conclusion- To time consuming...

I agree....very annoying. I hate it when I walk through a parking lot and I am startled by someone elses "chirp".
Unless you are blind, you can see the lights flash....but then you shouldn't be driving blind!

how do you set it up to chirp? the security manual has some long procedure in there, but I'm not sure what it's for.

Sounds like you're a bit touchy if an alarm chirp gets you that bad. I hope you never get mugged. :D

The piezo buzzer that came with the alarm on my Celica was nice. It wasn't loud enough to startle the average person. It was helpful if I couldn't see the cars lights to verify that it was locked. In bright sun and such, you may not be able to see the lights, so you can then listen for the chirp. I wish it came on the xB, but what can ya do.
