The basic Lojack is $500 and that's without an alarm. That's just the tracking system part. I have that on my van and my Galant. I think the alarm upgrade was another $200 but don't quote me on that.

I have a Clifford Matrix with the 2-way remote. I paid dealer cost. I am the dealer. If anyone is interrested I have one I need to get rid of. Someone ordered it and did not return for it. I can let it go for $325 shipped.

I have a black widow system with a 2 way pager, I love the sense of security it provides, being able to check the car from about 6 blocks or so depending upon location, but either way I love it

sounds about the same as the clifford matrix... I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. I have the scion security for now (price break on my ins.) but def. want to upgrade to alarm/starter

I have Lojack, which I paid $700 for at the dealer, and I also have a Clifford Matrix, which was $600 installed. The pager works up to half a mile away. You see a little flashing symbol which tells you it is receiving the transmission from the car. I always look for that first, because I figure if it's not there and I didn't hear the alarm, my car is no longer in the area.

The Compustar has a 1 and a 1/4 mile range, that is why I like it! I was thinking of getting it and installing it myself... its it hard to install an alarm yourself?

Wow $700 that's way too much bro. I had 2 of my cars done for $500 each.

ive got a code surestart lx gonna install it my self i was an installer for about 7years and still do side jobs i just got burnt out on the mundain everyday thing my fav was doing alarms i always loved the code but by far is the alpine sea 8081 its got like 16 channels it was the first ( think of the 2way setup) and just about any alpine but now the 100 and the 150 are to much like all teh other alarms i was at a tech session and teh reason for the new wire colors was to make it a universal wire color to other alarms like radio harnesses ie red black yellow grey purple white green and so forth even the siren has changed and with so may new companies out there there are so many choices im sticken with the "back in the day alarm" -----if i can get my hands on that remote for the 8081 ill be set

as far as ppl puting rmt starts on a 5 speed youll only leave it gear once or twice and never again --- i never ran into anything but it sure scared the hell out of me when it starts moving at you!!!!

Two miles? Where did you get that from, I looked after I asked the question, and the best Clifford matrix only has 1/4 mile range according to the web page...
