After S&H, it was $185. CRUZtc8 02-18-2008, 05:23 PM Holy crap 520!! thats crazy sturack1 02-18-2008, 05:37 PM thats what i thought. i didn't know if they were awesome lights or what. glad they came down in price, though ChelsDS 02-18-2008, 07:10 PM Oh cool someone took the plunge for these! I was looking for a place to get them then I got distracted with other things haha. Let us know how they work! Pics too :) scikotictc232 02-18-2008, 07:17 PM does anyone know how theese compare to the hid mobile ? cause the hid mobiles are 170 shipped to your door. sturack1 02-18-2008, 07:54 PM i upgraded from the lights that came with the car to Philips Crystal Vision Ultra which was a "decent" upgrade. i have high hopes for these HID lights. IllNist 02-21-2008, 05:35 AM I use mobileHID.COM on both of my xDs and love them! Scikotic-tC- 03-03-2008, 03:23 AM What bulb is the xd? 9006? sturack1 03-03-2008, 01:17 PM 9003 sturack1 03-14-2008, 02:13 PM so here is my dilema - i installed the lights (was relatively easy) and everything worked great! The problem came when I tried to aim them. I thought there was too much glare and not enough "road light". It seemed like the light was going everywhere BUT the road. I could see a good 30 feet ahead of me on my right side - road signs lit up really well, but I couldn't see where I was going besides that - esp. in rain. Any suggestions? Whispaz 03-21-2008, 12:07 AM time to retrofit HID projectors into your headlights... protocold 03-21-2008, 10:11 AM I think you are fine. You just need proper aiming, take a look at this link, adjust your light. Report back when you have problem. http://faqlight.carpassion.info/hl-aiming.htm sturack1 03-24-2008, 06:40 PM i gave it another shot and this time took off the tip end of the glare shield and things are better - there isn't as much light going up. the problem now, is i'm wondering if i should leave them the way they are (spotty black marks on the ground) or do a retrofit. I have NO IDEA how to go about doing a retrofit, though. CarbonXe 03-24-2008, 06:47 PM Orderd a set of bi-Xenon 8000K HIDs from XenPro via Amazon yesterday. Should be in about 1 week. Wish me luck. I'll post pics later. There's your problem. sturack1 03-24-2008, 06:54 PM should i have gone with a 4300K instead? CarbonXe 03-24-2008, 07:32 PM 6000K is the highest you should go without having to worry about losing too much light. 4300K/5000K would have been the best choice. sturack1 03-24-2008, 07:35 PM in light of that, is it worth going ahead and trying to retrofit projectors on there or just stick with halogens? CarbonXe 03-24-2008, 07:38 PM There's nothing better than retrofitting, except of course OEM HID, which isn't an option on Scions. sturack1 03-24-2008, 08:45 PM sorry guys, im giving up. don't have the time to mess around with retrofitting...gonna stick with halogens for now. got a "like new" set of HIDs if anyone's interested  ChelsDS 03-25-2008, 02:33 AM What would you have to do to get them to fit? What kind and who'd you buy them from? I might be interested :) sturack1 03-25-2008, 01:06 PM From what I can tell you'd have to get some projectors like out of an Inifiniti FX SUV and remove the headlight assembly. From there, you would take the assembly apart, cut a hole in the reflector and place the projectors in. Clamp everything down, re-seal the healdlight assembly and screw back into the car. Obviously, it is more complicated than that. There are some details here: www.theretrofitsource.com. They are H4/9003 8000K bi-xenon lights. they come with glare shields, balasts, relay, all wiring and an in-line fuse. They have only been in the car for a couple days. I bought them from XenPro via Amazon. I paid $178-ish, but u can have them for $90 + s&h. ChelsDS 03-25-2008, 06:38 PM Hrm.. I thought you could stick the HIDs in the normal headlight and it would work, but not as well as using projectors. Lemme find out more info before I make a deal. [edit] Darn, 8000k is too blue for my tastes :( Had it been 4300k or 5000k I would've snatched yours up. Good luck! sturack1 03-25-2008, 06:46 PM That's what I thought. It does work and it does look better than halogens. Driving to work in the mornings I can tell a difference between my lights and everyone else's - it's a good feeling. Putting them in the filament housing won't get you the nice crisp cut off lines you see in pics. There is a little bit more light going up. I do see road signs better, though. I could leave them the way they are and be satisfied, but I would want to finish the project and just don't have time. mahalzkita28 04-05-2008, 08:25 AM i just put 5000k from mobile HID on my girlfriends xd... had to aim them down all the way because it was spraying light everywhere. it is alot better then hallogen though and she loves them :) i gotta find time to retrofit |
