I posted about this once before. Sorry if I am wasting virtual space.

I am thinking of installing some component 6.5" in the panel between the rear windows and hatch. The plan is to build up the surface with a foam mold, ala custom kick panel pods. Then resin and fiberglass to make it rigid.

The reason for molding this shape is to create better staging by adjusting the angle toward the front seats more, rather than just cutting holes in the panel as is. I doubt there is enough surface space to install flat regardless.

To finish, I am planning on covering the whole panel in a grey vinyl similar in color to the existing interior. I want it to look as stock as possible.

Here, finally, is the reason for the post: I need you to shoot holes in this plan.

Please give me any concerns that you have, so that maybe I can avoid some pitfalls along the way. I have searched this site for an xB2 example since they have even more space there, but can't find anything.

Anyone have some input for me?

i say go for it.

BUT...

try and get a set of stock panels that you can work on. might want to keep the ones you have now if you ever want to return to stock.
