I have had a problem with my 2005 xA since the week that I bought it. After I use the cruise control on some (about 50%) occasions, the enging idles as high as 2000 rpm. I have found two ways to temporarily fix it, and one way to prevent it.

Fix 1: Use the cruise control again on my next trip. This almost always fixes the problem.

Fix 2: Open the hood, and manually adjust the throttle control on the cruise control box. The revs will go back up and stay up if I thouch the throttle again.

Prevention: Don't use the cruise control.

This is a very annoying problem. It is difficult for me to make it into the dealer, because I live in a remote Alaska town, so I'm hoping I can fix it myself. Any suggestions?

I'm thinking it is in need of a calibration...Anyone know how to do that on that particular CC unit?

My guess is that the cruise control cable needs adjustment. It should have a little play when the throttle is closed and the CC off.

There is a fair amount of slack in the cable when the Cruise Control Unit is not on and the engine is switched off - I can lift the cable straight up about a quarter to a half an inch. Turning the engine on does not affect the amount of slack in the cruise cable. There is an adjustment screw near the cruise unit that I have thought about messing with, but since I don't know what it does, I haven't touched it yet. I'd take a picture, but it's too dark outside to get a clear photo, but does anyone know by the description what it does and if adjusting it will help?

How did you get cruise control on an xA? Is it an option now?

Yes. Dealer-installed option when I purchased my xA in August.
