View Full Version : TRD Short Shifter Smooth_J 03-02-2008, 12:43 AM Anyone ever use/had on of these kits before? http://www.mcgeorgeparts.com/PD-PTR04-21051-40.aspx?MakeID=1 capitolachet 03-02-2008, 12:51 AM Get DR. ISOTOPE the trd one isnt much of a difference in shift length and it doesnt lower the knob height. you can get yours custom from dr. iso. arbnpx 03-02-2008, 03:26 AM I have it and I like it. The stock shifter's throw felt wicked long, and this made it a bit more sane. The shifter height is actually slightly higher than stock. Plus the leather shift knob looks good (matches the leather steering wheel if you have one), and it won't get as scorching hot (or freezing cold) as a metal shift knob. I find the shifter throw and height to be excellent for me, since I usually drive with the seat all the way back. I sat in a friend's tC with the TWM short shifter, and I found that I'd either have to lean forward or hyperextend my right arm in order to shift into 1, 3, or 5. If you can, try a short shifter in a tC to see how it feels. MikeRackhabit 03-02-2008, 04:25 AM I have this as well and I like it as well. I can't say how it compares to the others (from what I've read it seems like Dr. Isotope has a good SS), but I like this. I never did like my shifter to be too low and the throw is still a bit shorter then stock but what I like. As arbnpx said, if you know somoene with a tC and a SS (be it TRD or Dr. Iso) see if you can give it a test run to test it out and see if it suits you. On top of this you do get the nice looking shift knob which most places sell for like $50-$60 or more. frame 03-02-2008, 04:31 AM +++1 for Dr. Isotope. He uses stock shifters too. |
