Frozone's Legacy Must Continue (EDIT)
Ok redoing this rather than making a new thread. In the summer i plan to buy a new stereo for my car. its most likely going to be motorized. because im young and i think flip outs are snazzy.
My price range right now is -500 (the lower the better). keeping in mind that prices do drop and change with new prodcuts out on the market post what u think is the best, and ur personal favorites too.
Gotta have blue (led overhaul)
Tocuh screen with ipod control.
DVD (for a back up cam later. and can someone tell me how much that costs???)
Blue tooth and NAvi are optional if they can be modified or added later thats cool.
Gotta have outlets for if i want to buy and amp and speakers later.
If the flip screen can move thats cool like the Jensen VM9412 (can swivel twoards u.
Thats basically it. I can ususally find things cheaper online so post up even the ones u really like. I like the avic d-3 i just think its a little to old for me in terms of style. i want something that stands out. so post up or edit ur earlier posts!!!
No companies are excluded i've heard good and bad things about every company.
Fire Away!
YO i need one that wil work with my stock controls (on the wheel)

This is hilarious. I'm hardc0r3 y0!
On a serious note. I'd save for the D3. Fits the double din space and has NAV, adjustable backlighting to suit your tastes. Expandable if you want BT later, many more expandability options. Never heard good things about Jensen.

^^^ ya the pics nutz. im hearing alot of mixed reviews on jensen. i've seen videos of people using of them and they love it. and i've read alot of reviews on the two im looking at (9412 and 9312 still don't know the difference). though i admit the whole slide out and up thing is mad cool. what excatly makes the D3 so damn good to people? its the only one i know recognize by sight. what does BT mean?

Flip outs are okay. Truthfully, I'd rather get rid of my flip out for a double din. Everyone opts for the D3 because it's affordable and it has everything. Well, except bluetooth I'm assuming. I haven't done much research about the D3 because it seriously doesn't impress me. Plus, I've used Kenwood since I was 16... Lol!
And BT=bluetooth...

One of the reasons the D3 didn't impress me was because I can't navigate my iPod video through it. You may be able to, I haven't done the research... If anyone knows if you can let me know.
I played with a Kenwood eXcelon DDX8019 at a local shop and I could access the videos on my iPod no problem. That's pretty much what sealed the deal for me. But they discontinued it and replaced it with the DNX8120 and the DDX812. I'll probably opt for the DDX812. I don't think I really need navigation.

i had a flip-up but then got the D3 (check my profile pics. i have a night shot of it).
at first i thought, "oohh, moving parts, wow..." but after a while it isnt all too exciting. double-din looks cleaner

Frozone, I work for a major electronics retailer, and I will tell from first hand that Jensen units have a higher failure rate than Pioneer or Alpine. Plus flip out units have a reputation for the hinges and gearing breaking (the unit wont flip out after that).
I am also an owner of the D3, and I freakin love the thing. You can add a backup camera, BT, etc, and the iPod interface is perfect (they just released a new cable that takes away the neccessity for a seperate iPod interface box). You can get the D3 for below 550 from certain online retailers.
Just read what everyone else says about the D3, Z2, or N3 and it is no competition.

i have used jensen for the last 4 years. I have had the vm9312 the vm9510, and have the vm9511ts. i am thinking about getting the vm9022 this one is a double din. it has everything except navigation. it has ipod, bluetooth, touch screen, etc. u can pick it up for 430 shipped online. since audiovox has bought jensen the product has gotten much better!!!
