ChelsDS 03-20-2008, 05:28 PM Are you talking about a clear bra or a leather bra? I would look in to getting a clear bra for the car since the leather kind doesn't protect well enough. Where are you located? If you're in the SoCal region I know a guy who does clear bras and who might give a discount for it too. reviewboy 03-20-2008, 11:24 PM ChelsDS - I did not realize that there was such a thing as a clear bra. I googled for clear bras just now and I'm not clear which my wife will want (it's for her car). I would like to know whether a leather bra is an option for an xD. I live in No Cal, about 400 mi from LA. Thanks for the reply! bloody_mess 03-20-2008, 11:36 PM i say none reviewboy 03-21-2008, 12:08 AM kylelewis32, that's the impression I was getting. Thanks. ChelsDS 03-21-2008, 02:15 AM If you plan to lower the car, you will definitely want bra. I have a clear bra on my car and you can't see it unless my car is dirty or looking at my car from a certain angle. Pretty sure someone will make a leather bra, but seriously you don't want one. A leather bra will scratch the paint underneath from the fine particles that are there. It will also tear from road rocks and thats how the dirt+grime get underneath to ruin the paint. Clear bra is a heavy duty plastic piece that works really well. I have my hood, fenders, and mirrors done but I should've gone for the front bumper first. If you don't care how the front of the car looks after a few months don't bother getting a bra at all. I chose to get the clear bra because I want to protect my car so it might be valued a bit higher than those who didn't get one down the road. Runawayrogue 03-27-2008, 08:08 AM Clear bra is the way to go. If you can find a good installer they can make it look like nothing is there... and it really keeps the rock chips at bay. The big problem with leather bras occurs when dust and dirt gets trapped under them and constantly rubs your paint with the vibrations and heat expansion/contraction of the metal, effectively turning the underside of the bra to sandpaper. CameraCrew 04-29-2008, 02:40 PM Hang on for a bit, the magnetic bra will be available soon. I have 2 of the magnetic bras and they are terrific. They don't flap around, you don't have to remove them to wash the car and nothing gets under it. corollarollas 04-30-2008, 06:09 PM i would like to see the magnetic bra and how it works. sounds interesting. I talked to them and they said they will have one for the Xd soon. www.magnetbra.com [/img] CameraCrew 05-01-2008, 09:48 PM i would like to see the magnetic bra and how it works. sounds interesting. The color of the paint that is not covered by the clear bra should match the part(s) that are covered. That magnetic bra is interesting, however I prefer to have one on the car that I can't see at all until I get closer or there is enough dirt to show the lines. |
