View Full Version : Using other Toyota parts in our Scions?
HondAudio 03-23-2008, 04:50 AM Has anybody found interesting parts from other Toyota models to put into the toaster? Storage boxes, seats, little dashboard gadgets, anything?
I'm asking because I've seen people use JDM stuff and those little coin holders from the Matrix and stuff.
I'm even thinking of using an old Honda part. It's a DIN-sized storage pocket that I could put under the radio and hide an EQ in.
bB2NER 03-23-2008, 05:32 AM I got a Yaris engine cover and hubcaps. Do those count?
draxcaliber 03-23-2008, 05:35 AM yeah, with the xa/xb, it is all about the JDM or EUDM parts to put on their boxes.
Sciond 03-23-2008, 07:47 PM echo parts here and there
HondAudio 03-24-2008, 05:23 AM What kind of Echo parts? I've seen that underseat storage bin and I want one, but what else? :)
Sciond 03-24-2008, 01:31 PM suspension, interior take a good look at some interior parts
bB2NER 03-24-2008, 03:18 PM Wow i had no idea so much interchanged. I could see suspension and underhood items tho.
hwybox 03-24-2008, 03:20 PM echo yaris xA vitz ist parts, look em up on ebay
bB2NER 03-24-2008, 03:24 PM There are very few Yaris parts tho that change over. They got completely different suspensions set ups and interiors.

Now that would be a great DIY.
BTW ... has anyone tried using a Yaris dip stick for their xB oil? I noticed at the NYC auto show that the Yaris has a metal one and im thinking of ordering one.

bB2NER 03-24-2008, 10:34 PM I will. He is coming over to play cards on Wed. and I'll pull it out and compare the length. The worse part is he was just here like an hour ago just before I found out about the metal dipstick.

LOl you coulda pulled the old switcharoo :lalala:
CBSIMONSEZ 03-24-2008, 10:53 PM Yeah, not that i am worried about using the plastic one, but Metal would be so much nicer. Not to mention the yellow plastic is now a nice brownish color.

LOl you coulda pulled the old switcharoo :lalala:I thought about that.:lalala: But he had just done his first break in oil change so he knew it was metal.
I wonder how much that sucker is gonna be? :nails:
CBSIMONSEZ 03-25-2008, 09:35 AM If i can get a club discount ill pass it along here. Im currenlty waiting to hear back from one of our sponsors. If someone can get me a part number that would move it along faster.
bB2NER 03-25-2008, 01:47 PM I'll have a part number tomorrow if it's on the dipstick. Or I could go ask a Yaris World brother to check his dipstick for a part number. I'm gonna try that.
THE_DON 03-25-2008, 03:00 PM Been rockin' a Matrix cargo net for a while now.
It says "Toyota" on it, for that fake azz JDM look. :P
What's the Echo under seat storage box? Sounds interesting.

If someone can get me a part number that would move it along faster.Did get the part number yet but the dealer quoted my 19 something for the dipstick. I'm going over to Yarisworld now to try and get the part #. The part number given was 15301-21040. But I'm not sure if it's right cause the guy that gave me it has an 07'. I'm going to see what part number ours has.
Tomas 03-25-2008, 06:57 PM (One could even ask the local parts department...) :)

1) dont have the time
2) most of the time stealerships dont have a clue anyway.
bB2NER 03-25-2008, 10:06 PM Our plastic POS doesn't have a part number on it. Guess I wait till tomorrow and measure up my dads. If it's the same length I'll see how cheap I can find a steel one?
Sciond 03-26-2008, 01:25 AM keep us posted

Im sure there is a part number, you just have to dig and dig to find it. If 30 minutes and a phone call to Toyota Central can get me a part number and price for a RS1 grill ... anything is possible.
StealthBox 03-26-2008, 11:26 AM You got pictures of that, bruh?
Yeah the color is a little off fro factory but once it warms up I plan on painting the silver stuff in the car a different color..

doggy 03-26-2008, 05:05 PM Lots of parts from Yaris / Echo do fit into Xb, cuz Toyota did used lots of same parts for all different models (like sidemarkers on Xb are the same as on Prius / LandCruiser/Yaris and etc)
Suspension on Yaris Verso (EUDM model) is exactly the same as on Xb / Xa, Echo has the same Engine / gearbox, and lots of interior parts like Xb, Yaris - has the same engine / gearbox / suspension and etc :) Even radiators from Echo are the same as Xb and etc, i could continue all day long, cuz i rebuilded like 6 Xb already (buing them in USA Auctions, importing them to EU, rebuilding them and selling :D) So all i have to use here in EU are parts from other Toyotas, cuz OEM parts from Xb are hard to get :D
bBlover 03-26-2008, 05:14 PM Ever look at a Toyota Echo steering wheel?? :lalala: its the same as the 04-06 (excluding "06.5") buts its just completely gray.
bB2NER 03-27-2008, 03:05 AM The 08' Yaris dipstick is the right length so it will work. Finally, a metal dipstick for the xB.

Interesting. I'm going to get an old single-DIN storage pocket from the 1989 Prelude. I used it in my old Civic in a lower dash console. I hid an EQ inside it. The door is black and it might be a pretty good match, texture-wise. I think it's a little bit roomier inside, i.e. it doesn't have those protrusions like yours does :P
StealthBox 03-27-2008, 11:10 AM Yeah the protrusions are for the door swing mechanics. You push on the door and it opens by itself..

TheDivineComedy 03-27-2008, 01:36 PM I would like to see pics of the echo underseat storage
CBSIMONSEZ 03-28-2008, 12:18 AM The 08' Yaris dipstick is the right length so it will work. Finally, a metal dipstick for the xB.
Did you do a test fit and were you able to get a part number. Ill start working on my end to see about a price, but if i can give a part number then it will only go faster. This may take a trip to my local Scion dealership.

  tks Jeff
bB2NER 03-28-2008, 01:55 AM NP, I can see everyone storming their dealers asking for these.

Murbyrne 03-28-2008, 03:28 AM I'll pull it out and compare the length
:rolling: :D
maturity FTW!
HondAudio 03-28-2008, 06:19 AM You guys care way too much about the stupid dipstick!
bB2NER 03-28-2008, 06:32 AM There was no part number on his but it was the right length. I didn't get the part number from the dealer when I got the price either. Atleast it can be ordered and maybe one of the site sponsors could cut us a deal.
Sciond 03-28-2008, 08:08 AM lol group dipstick buy....
bB2NER 03-28-2008, 08:35 AM I'm hoping for closer to 15 bucks. My plastic one is turning brown from heat. What a cheap POS compared to the Yaris one.
CBSIMONSEZ 06-21-2008, 12:30 AM OK Guys and Gals .. it has been done.
Part Number: 15301-21040
As you can see the Yaris Dip Stick is a little longer. I would say about an 1/8th of an inch at the most. With the tops lined up ( O Ring to O Ring ) the Full and Low dots are in the same place. And when installed showed my oil level at the same spot on each stick. It was a concern of mine as the Yaris stick was slightly longer, but i started the box and there was no shearing of the extra length. Now i feel like my engine is complete, and not using the nasty oil colored Scion dip stick any longer.
FS ... slightly used Scion first gen xB dipstick. Willing to part with cheap.

Tomas 06-21-2008, 12:39 AM Nice!
Thanks for the research and confirmation! :)
jetblast 06-21-2008, 03:53 AM Fun info!!! Anyone know of a nice looking brake master cylinder cap? Not the double faced tape stick on ones from Ebay.
Thanks
greybox 06-21-2008, 04:13 AM Steering wheels yeah and no- I have heard all the newer ones (like since 89) have the same spline and diameter shaft-seems to be true so far.
The Yaris and Echo and at least a few Camrys have the same airbag plug ins so the steering wheel swaps should be easy enough as long as you get all the parts.
Echo front struts aren't as pressurized but fit on the xB and drop the front an extra 1/2 inch.
sdsnybny 06-21-2008, 04:39 AM I would like to see pics of the echo underseat storage
X2^^^^^^^^
bB2NER 06-21-2008, 09:02 PM So what was the final cost? Also, thanks for the part number.
sparcshinobi 06-21-2008, 10:12 PM Nice find guys! At work now. I got your part number and diy link for the echo underseat storage. Gotta remind myself to post up when I get home Sunday.
sparcshinobi 06-21-2008, 11:23 PM I can't find the link of the DIY for the Echo storage tray. But here's the part# 71753-52010. It averages for $63 from the dealer.
You also need to weld this to the rails of the passenger seat.
The storage tray goes right under the passenger seat.
Sorry. No pics.
CBSIMONSEZ 06-22-2008, 03:29 PM So what was the final cost? Also, thanks for the part number.
Truth be told ... i didnt pay anything for it. TY Rob. Ill look into how much retail is and if i can get a club discount.
CBSIMONSEZ 06-22-2008, 04:51 PM Apparently Rockland Toyota has them for $12.83
bB2NER 06-22-2008, 06:25 PM I wanted to find out why Carson didn't show it on their new site. They only show the plastic one still for the 07-08 Yaris plus they dont list the part # when you look it up. With the discount from there it should be around 9 bucks plus shipping.
CBSIMONSEZ 06-22-2008, 08:50 PM I too looked at 4 different Toyota sites with parts listings. Either they didnt show it or their sites were not working propperly.
It wasnt until i punched in the part number in Google that it came up in a Yaris forum. apparently this is a new part for them as well.
bB2NER 06-22-2008, 09:25 PM It may be cheaper to just order local and pay list than to add in shipping on discounted price. :lalala:
firesquare 06-23-2008, 02:15 AM ill be up that way in aug. ill get one at rock yota
