Default need help from the locals! *tacoma/lakewood/auburn/fife*

i've recently been out of work for a time now and i'd been having a problem getting back into a good position.

i'm calling for the help of my fellow scion nuts. i've been sending out my resume all over the place, making calls, doing walk ins, pestering the crap out of hiring managers to try and nose my way back into work but i just haven't had luck.

so if any of you could help me out with some leads or hook-ups, that would be GREAT! , i'll even throw in a "dinner on me" out of the first pay check or two to a restaurant in eastern fife / northern aurburn called "The Rock".

generaly, my experience has been mostly in warehouse work and normally ranges between pay areas of 10-15 an hour full time. i have back problems in my lower back so anything over 40-50lbs on repetitive lifting will screw me up pretty badly. i'm a very detail oriented person and have skills in a very LARGE range of areas. i have extensive knowledge in the audio design and development fields, i have fairly entry level AutoCAD experience, i'm knowledgeable in the world of physics, i take GREAT interest in anything to do with metal working and have a great understanding of the physical properties with a wide range of different metal types. i have some automotive mechanical knowledge, due to my experience in the audio fields my audio experience makes for great automotive interior capabilities including fiberglassing. i have extensive computer skills mainly with 98 and XP, i have a flawless driving record and have been certified for road racing and auto cross and have been driving since i was 13. i have basic to average level electrician knowledge, i have some experience with welding on wire-fed and gas welding... i could go on and on. if there was a perfect job out there, i'd probably be a great handy man.

i'm REALLY looking into getting into metal working, specifically welding or CNC machining. i don't have any real training or certification in anything and i'm REALLY looking for a paid apprenticeship position within the area. i would be the happiest person alive if i got into something like that. i LOVE metal working, you can make ANYTHING you want! so if anyone knows about anything open like this, PLEEEAASSSEEE let me know, i want to get into it so bad that i can almost taste it! like i mentioned above, i know the physical properties of MANY different metals. stainless steels and each grade, hot and cold rolled steels, aluminum alloys like 2021, 2024, 6061 and 7075, coppers, brasses... hell, even titanium and there's even some plastics that i'm knowledgeable about their machining capabilities... i would love a career in this area.

i was at a nice warehouse down on the shore flats near the ports of Tacoma, problem was, ya, great overtime but WAY too many hours ontop of heavy lifting, on average each day were between 14 and 18 hours, i couldn't take it. i was comming home each day and having to pop about a half dozen pain pills and wait for my back to just go stiff as a board... since i left this last work, i've been out of work for about 3 months now and it's starting to get ridiculous so if anyone could help, that would be great. i don't flake on anything that i see as an opportunity and i'm a VERY reliable person, just give me a go and i can show you.

I work in Fife at a company called Auto-Chlor. I know we are hiring for an installer. The weight issue might come into play but we have hand trucks and/or a second person for the big installs. You would be installing dishwashers in restaurants/bars/etc... I've been there about 4 years and have a blast. Check out www.autochlor.com for more info. With this job at least you would be playing with stainless..

well then, i'll be there tomorrow for sure. to who's name should i be asking for and saying who referred me? i'd rather be talking to the person in charge of the hiring process rather then some random person, gets to the point REAL quick.

problem with labor union, it's labor union. as mentioned above i can't take too much heavy labor before my back gives. Auto Chlor on the other hand would be slightly different, there are tools to help you out. most don't supply this, they just say "must be able to lift upto75lbs or 90lbs repetitively through-out shift" i've been with a few places who say this and they aren't kidding... they expect you to do this kind of work. personaly, i don't know anyone thats anywhere near relative to Arnold Schwarzenegger enough to do something like that for 10+ hours a day... i've got friends who are well built and could probably lift the butt end of my car once or twice but i've even talked to them about these requirements and even they say "that's pretty harsh...".

the problem with craigslist... ya, direct postings by the company but... they are forgetting something... more then half don't supply a phone number to call and they never check their craigslist email responses. so they post and forget... doesn't help haha.
