Default Painting over rims with diamond-machined lip

Hey guys,

The past winter has been VERY harsh on my rims (don't have a pair of beaters), as all the salt has WRECKED the silver lip on my rims...I have the G-Racing Sekis
http://www.directwheelcenter.com/ima...b/WH-79002.jpg

I was wondering if there was any sort of paint that I could use to re-paint my lip. A bright silver perhaps? Anyone done this before?

I understand I probably won't get that original chrome-looking shine, but at this point it's not even worth getting them redone since I might as well just buy new rims due to the price...

Thanks![/url]

You may need to find a company that can recondition them for you...I wouldn't paint the lip man, it may not come out like you want...just my opinion...

the salt ate away the inside of the lip, so it almost looks like rusted metal. It hasn't taken away the shape at all, meaning all i need to do is repolish them, no need to fill in any cracks or anything since there is no damage at all to them

^^ try what "2 much tC" posted. Or before that, try using a buffer ball and metal polish to see if you can get rid of it.

Instead of creating a new topic, just decided to update this...

Im planning on just painting over the lip, probably gloss black. How would I go about painting over the lip? I asked to get it powdercoated but the guy said you would have to paint the lip, not powdercoat?

you need to sand down the clear on it and then prime and paint it, just like if you were doing a car.
