what causes bounciness, springs or struts?
anyhow I have htechs on stock struts, I dont know if this is just mental or not,
but If I recalled correctly, when I first had them installed, it was a nice ride. When I go over bumps its was a pretty stiff and not bouncy,
but recently after a few months or so, Ive noticed that the ride feels sloppier and bouncier.
is it time for a strut upgrade or are my springs just settling and this is the result?
does bounciness result from springs or struts?

Im not 100% sure on this but from what i have read on strut and spring combos, the bounce is the result of the struts? Check your struts and see if there is any oil leaking out and does your setup make loud clunking noises over bumps?
edit: i have stock struts with S-techs and my ride feels the same since day one

Anything more aggressive of a drop than trd springs on stock struts will cause the struts to have a short lifespan.
When a car has a lot of bounce, it is due to worn out struts. The struts are the dampers, which keep the car from riding like it is on nothing but springs. If it is getting bouncier, then your struts are going.

Im gonna ride them out longer, its only really bouncy when I carry other passengers, not so much when I drive on my own.
If I ever need to change them out, ill probably get the tokicos.

you probably shouldnt be cheap with suspension parts of the car cause its pretty much what keeps you on the road. its pretty much a safety issue...it wouldnt be a good idea to ride it out longer and replacing struts are only a few hundred so its not too expensive.

But to answer the original post....
The shocks are there to dampen the bounciness of the spring. That's why they're also called "dampers" by some folks. They slow down the rate at which the spring wants to compress and then rebound past its original length and compress and rebound and go back and forth until it stabilizes back to its original length. The spring would oscillate back and forth for several cycles without a good shock. And that's the bouncing sensation you're feeling right now.
The shock gives resistance to the spring so that it is only going to:
initially compress, then rebound to a little past it's original length, and then settle back to regular length.
That's it. no more bouncing than that. If your car is bouncing up and down after a dip in the road, then the shocks aren't doing their job.
Hope this helps.
i had the same problem as you when i had the TRD springs for some time. Although, i knew it was my shocks that were givin out. go buy some new shocks and you should be ok but i went with tein coilovers just because i got a good deal.
well anyone knows a good place to pick up the tokicos?
let me explain what im feeling
I have the trd sway, and if I go over even a tiny bump, my car tilts over that bump and sets back down, it recoils like once and sets back to normal. what I did was fill the tires with a higher psi, because they were quite low and that helped.
the cars rear doesnt bounce up and down, if the car bounces its more side to side and doesnt really bounce more than that one time after the initial dip. its just the car freakin tilts left and right not forward to rear if the ground is uneven.
its not really a springy bouncy, as I notice that if I go over a speed bump the car settles fairly quick. does this sound like I need new shocks? It just bothers me that the smalled discrepancy on the asphalt will cause my car to tilt.

Tilt? As in body roll? That sounds more like you didnt mount all the points on the sway bar, which would create more body roll.
Past that, I am not sure what you are describing.
