My tires are starting to show their age and I am interested in getting some new ones. What do you guys recommend here? It's just for daily driving in a Florida climate. I would love for them to be quieter then the stock tires if possible and maybe less harsh when going over small bumps in the road? I'm not sure if this has to do with tires sorry.. I want to keep the stock rims (17's) I tried searching here and at places like tirerack and whathaveyou but I'm just getting overwhelmed because I know nothing about tires and don't want to buy garbage.

If you can afford it, go with a 225 sized tire as opposed to a OEM 215 sized tire.

 

Ok I need some recommendations like Toyo Proxes 4, etc. I just want to get some reviews from people that have the same car.

Will the 225 sized fit on the stock rims?

 

I currently have the Toyo Proxes4. They're not bad. In my opinion, thecar seems like it drives better with the Proxes4 than the stock Yokohama's that came with my 07 tC.

I'd say you'd be happy with the noise/ride quality of the Toyo Proxes4 tires. Plus as you've heard from all of us many times, the performance is awesome! snow is decent, but hey you don't get that in florida! so these would be great for you. A 225/45-17 IS compatible with our wheel. I always wonder how much more gas you'll end up using since that tire is wider, and you'll have a wider rolling resistance. (more rubber=more grip= more energy required to move it) Sure it would handle better, but with gas almost $3.50 a gallon, can you handle paying more for gas? Otherwise go with the stock size of 215/45-17.

The Goodyear F1 all-seaons, they have a kevlar sidewall, and I'm thinking that would cause it to ride harshly. Anyone with the F1's like to speak up and tell your experience?

so if no one with the F1's speak up.. then get the proxes4 i think you'd like them a lot.

 

Are proxes4's the only good tire? Because there is an overwhelming response for that tire only...:/

You could look at the Nitto Neo Gen, I've heard good things about that too. And yeah I know Nitto is a division of Toyo. here's a review I found on scionlife of the neo gens. https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=205117 and yes they do come in the stock size 215/45-17. The price seems to be close to the proxes4's. I guess what stops me from getting the Neo Gen's for myself is that there isn't a center rib down the middle of the tire. That gives a solid steering feel back into the steering wheel when driving. Without that, it would seem a little vague. But just trying to give you other alternatives because you asked

I do like the Goodyear F1 all-season but I'm not sure if you're going to have a comfortable ride, because the sidewall is Kevlar. and the sidewall is what gives you the ride feel.

The other one is the BF Goodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S, dont know of anyone who has had experience with it, but I thought it looked good too.

I have seen the Pirelli Pzero Nero A/S on the tC and it's a very rough ride, not to mention Pirelli doesn't have a good handle on quality control. Many were out of round, defective. vibrating, shimmy-ing. No thanks.

Anybody here with NeoGens want to ring in on how you like them as far as road noise and comfort are concerned compared to the stockers? I read the thread about the review but not many people mentioned the noise...

 

i can't give you a rating on road noise, becaue the engine dampener is so freaking noisy.

 

Alright I've decided to go with the 225 Proxes 4's. I read somewhere that on a nonstock suspension the NeoGens could wear uneven because they were designed for lowered cars. The PX4's also have a 300 treadwear as opposed to 280 for the nitto..Hopefully edgeracing gets the 225's back in stock :S

 

Hopefully somebody gets these in stock at 225/45/17...I can't find them anywhere...
