Default Real World xB MPG's

Hi,
I started a threat similar to this in the xD forums as well. I am trying to decide whether to get an xB or xD based mainly on MPG's. If it's close enough, I'd rather have the XB, but gas does factor into a decision this big.

So here is the question, what mpg's are you getting in your xB2 when driving normally, especially with the A/C on most of the time. I want people who drive normally, not people who do every possible thing to get the best mpg's. Also, this needs to be hand calculated mpg's (don't list 32 mpg because while you are cruising on the highway that is what the readout displays).

Please put whether you drive manual or automatic, city/highway, air conditioning on/off, etc.

Thanks in advance.

I average (by manual calculations, not computer) around 27mpg average with mixed driving. Sometimes I can get depending, 23-25 or anywhere from 29-33.

But by averaging all my totals, i get about 27.6MPG.

Automatic and stock.

I get anywhere around 25.5-29.9mpg. Rarely using A/C. I mash it sometimes as well.

I have 12,500 miles on my automatic, drive about 500 miles per week, about 80% freeway (65-70mph). I use A/C all the time, but here in CA it hasn't had to work too hard over the 6 months I've owned it. I don't drive it hard, but I don't make any special effort to get high mileage either. My real world calculated mpg (not trip computer) based on real miles driven and gallons of gas purchased is 26.4 over the entire 12,500 miles.

Same here except I have a 5-speed. Now if I do 100% hwy I've had it up to 30-31 mpg.

Wow this is great. If 25mpg is about the norm, I might just go with the XB!!! Keep posting guys, I appreciate it.

I have a 5 speed, and for the most part i drive like a grandma. I use cruise control all the time and do probably 70% highway driving. I RARELY get below 29, usually im at 30-31.

My outcome is similar to CIONIDE's.

I drive 600 miles per week, 80% freeway, with an average speed of 60mph. Manual transmission, stock vehicle, and get 26-ish mpg. I'm at about the same total mileage also.

I just checked the MPG on the computer it says 28. I have alot of mods done to mine. So if that is even close to what I am getting then I am cool with that. I do about 50-50 freeway city driving and do about 400 miles a week.

I've actually noticed that I can get an extra 3-4 miles per gallon depending on the way I drive. I didn't think it was such a big deal until I tried it and it really works. Now I just cruise and maintain at 65mph and take a more proactive approach on keeping my car's momentum from unnecessary stopping.

I did notice that I got worse gas mileage using the cruise control! On a long straight away drive, I was getting 24-25 mpg on cruise control for about an hour. The next hour, I turn off cruise control and was instantly getting around 28 mpg at the same speed. WTH? I thought cruise control was supposed to save gas! I tried the same thing on my way back from the trip and verified the same results... WEIRD!

LASTLY, how is NOLIMITZ getting that good of gas mileage with all his mods!

Are people rolling automatics getting worse gas mileage since we don't have a 5th gear???

I have found that my trip computer ALWAYS gives MPG that is anywhere from 1.5-2.25 MPG higher than the real calculation using miles driven and gallons put in for each tank.

Just hit 4000 miles with mine and the milage seems to be going up slightly (avg.) from about 23 overall to about 26-27 avg. now. I'm happy. BTW a mile or two more MPG really won't make too much diff. maybe only 20-30 miles on a gas light just on fill up and you will just love an xb2.

Can anyone else confirm getting less gas mileage using cruise control?

Definitely less mileage using CC going up hills, but I get better mpg with CC on flat freeways.

yeah, only use CC if you are on a flat area ... or going down hill a lot .. but watch it on downhills ... speed will creep up on ya ...

i use a mix of CC and normal ... most of where i drive is flat .. with limited hills ... about 60% highway ... the rest normal city stuff
