Default Used tc project(more than just mods)NOW with PICS!!!! page 2

I never noticed Scion tc's till a month and half ago,I saw one sitting in front of the gym I work out at.Didn't know Scion made a coupe thought they only made the van looking one.I thought it was a pretty nice looking car and had to have one after that day.I was looking to trade my 06 Sebring Convertible in because convertibles suck year round especially when its cold more than it is warm. I knew I was going to be upside down on payment with my trade so my only option was a used one.Went to Carmax because I found one online on there site Indigo ink with wing spoiler and Scion 18" wheels.Went to Carmax long story short trade in was way to low like they practically wanted my car for free.So we went to the dealership I bought my Sebring at they know me down there I paint all there used cars they get in that have small damage on them.We were looking around nothing really was catching my eye when my wife grabbed me almost pulling to the ground and pointed look a blue scion.I'll be dammed that they had a used Indigo ink tc on the lot, they also gave me trade in value on my car way better than Carmax did and a better interest rate and car was cheaper than Carmax.Yes I bought it with 60,000 miles on needed some maintenance and had a few flaws in the body nothing major.
Ok now the set up is done now its time for work.I paint cars for a living and pretty much allowed free run to do what I want after hours at the shop have my own key and everything.I also have a history of modding older muscle cars: building engines, suspensions, transmissions and rear ends.I know a lot with exception of newer computer controlled systems but I'm learning.I found this site the day I bought my car and I read information I learn a few hours a day on here.Lots of useful information I have learned a great deal from everyone experiences and I know what I'm going to have to deal with figure out before I even mod now(thanks everyone). So a week after owning my car I start work the following Friday I take off front bumper and repair a deep gouge in the bumper and repaint it along with a new pedestal spoiler. That weekend I also install my CD deck, changer, amp and subwoofer from my Sebring. Now its over a month later I have window tint, trans cooler,4 wheel brake job with new rotors and painted calipers,Goodridge brake lines,LED interior lights, trans service,Injen CAI and did oil change with synthetic oil.I know not all exciting stuff but I have done alot of work in a short time.Since I bought used not only am I modding I'm trying to repair at same time.no point in putting some fun parts on if your going to ignore maintenance.
May is going to be the big month for my car.My parents are loaning me there truck while there in Cali for a week so in short I'll be living in the shop that week.Told my wife if you want to see me shes going have to come hang out at the shop a few nights.I am totally repainting my car to fix all the dents and chips,I have a front lip waiting at the shop and new badgeless grills on the way.I'm going to repaint car Indigo ink again no color change but I am going to paint my grills and the area on the bumper below grills dark Grey metallic just for a small change (opinions welcome)If that wasn't ambitious enough I have a new set of struts in hand and my wife offered to buy me my TRD lowering springs for my bday.I also plan to have my hotchkis sway bars in when i do springs and struts.I'm doing all this in a weeks time so after that week is done I'll take a break lol.I have a MMW header waiting in the garage that needs to be installed after I get back from my trip to Ohio next week for a convention.I also have tinted taillight overlays I'm going to try out once there here and if I have the money while I have the bumper off Ill buy the VRD fogs.
June will be focused on getting the TRD supercharger I think that will be project enough.I have Proxes Fz4's on the car want to replace then in near future with a better and wider tire.I love the stock wheels but mine are all scared up and one wheel has a dent on inside of rim and has a small leak there. If anyone near Chicago/NW Indiana on here has a set of stock tc wheels i would be very interested if there in awesome shape. The only other mods I'm researching are cat backs (thinking of the skunk2 and modding the mid pipe myself) and maybe a torque damper.
As you can see half my work is just fixing the car and the other half is modding it.This is just phase one im working on acquiring a tc engine and trans cheap because I know this engine and trans wont last me more than 20,000 miles.Im going to do the trans first and get it to shift real tight.i know my way around the rebuilding part and replacing the wave springs with steels but unfamiliar with modding the valve body on a newer car , Gm turbo 350's I can do in my sleep but this ill need help on.Anyone that has information on where I should go to talk to someone on tc valve bodies would help.Once I get one together and get it to shift nice I'll be ready to help the other auto guys in this site.
Well thats my plans for the mean time any input on my paint scheme idea, auto trans info and Chicago land tc owners with a set of stock wheels for sale would be a great help.

Congrats on the purchase... Continue the great work.
Summary: Bought a used tc with body and rim damage. He is repainting soon and wants ideas. Looking at a TRD supercharger, engine and trans. Would like some stock wheels and wants auto trans valve body information.

I have few pics of my tc from last week.I have a 70 Chevelle still that I completely tore apart and rebuilt in a four month time period with exception of paint(thought the paint was still nice)I need to scan those pics in.I also have a 06 Harley Nightrain that I did a lot of bolt ons.I'll try to put the tc pics on tonight or tomorrow. If theres enough interest I'll take a few of the Chevelle and Harley and post them too.

As you can tell, the youth of America are more interested in pics than words. (I keed, I keed.) That's really cool that you like your tC that much. The only part that confused me was about replacing your engine and tranny after 20K miles. Good luck with your 'project' and post some 'before', 'during', and 'after' photos because it sounds like a very interesting transformation you will be doing.

Hey not all youths are about pictures lol. honestly I'm glad to see the older kids taking a hop on the scion bus. I would feel better if the scion tc generation were not a majority 17 -18 years raising the insurance rates, by driving like they have a death wish or playing a racing game on the street. But yeah glad to know your joining the scion family. I'm pretty sure if you need any help just post a thread, lots of experienced guys on here, they'll help. People who say very little things, pretty much have nothing to say except waste space, ignore those people. Any by the way niice tC. Needs a decent drop and some tint and you got your self a looker.

I figure with it already has 60,000 on it once I boost it and beat on it a little I'm sure the stock internals of the engine and transmission it wont hold up to the abuse. From pics I have seen the rod bolts are the weakest link in the chain I'm sure I'll put a window in this current engine.
