Default Air conditionong help

Ok so i am having a major issue with the A/c namely it has died and the dealer says its not under warranty. I am still trying to stomach that an A/C compressor should be dead after only 3 years of use. Does anyone know if there has been any recalls or sevice bullitins for the 05 XB for the A/C system? If so please let me know!!!

Did they say it was the compressor, or was the car even looked at? I find it hard to believe the compressor has failed after 3 years. I would say a possible leak in the system, & once all the R-134 (A/C gas, freon, etc.) is gone, the compressor will no longer activate.

The MOST vulnerable item in the A/C system is the condensor. Since it's exposed to the open road, any vehicle in front of you will fling a rock right through it! We replace alot of these at work and some customers actually think it should be covered under warranty...Yeah right!
Also, look at the a/c lines for any oil slicks, where the rubber meets the aluminum crimp. This is another area that leaks with time!

Metro, have you figured out a way to keep the condensor from getting blown apart by road debri yet?

oh and thats pretty screwy, my A/C when I first got the box barely worked (coldest it got was about 85 if it was 90 outside) no it'll freeze you out, I took it back multiple times they always said "nothing wrong works fine" now all of a sudden it works

muzikman , I remember there being different TSBs on the A/C for different year xBs not being cold enough and stuff. It does sound more like a leak cause even with 200k the compressor should not be worn out.
Have you had an A/C place diagnose the system? If not, bite the bullit and get it checked out. It might be something simple or it might be something covered under warranty the dealer doesn't know about. Most dealers are not very smart on facts when warranty stuff is involved. Some dealers will bend over backwards to keep their customers happy. If they don't, they won't be in business for long. Good luck and keep us updated please?

Yes Jeff! You are 100% right! My dealership is in the top 5 in the region when it comes to the best customer service of all the Chicagoland Nissan dealers...
It's hard to satisfy every customer but it can be done!

There were service bulletins for the 04 as I recall--but not the 05. You might want to look for a used or rebuilt compressor.

Shouldn't he confirm first that the compressor is at fault? It could be several simple things that need to be diagnosed first.
