Default xD handling

so after having my xD for a couple months now. I come to realize a very important thing about this car. IT NEEDS VSC like no ones business. And watch how wide of a tire you use. I found the car very stable in the snow with stock tires. Rain was fine too. But after putting on my new rims and tires, the car is extra skittish in the rain. I have spun it into a guardrail already and smashed the front a month ago. I don't blame the tire size or design cuz I used them on my last car without any issue for 4 years even in the snow! so now learning that the car handles like crap in the rain or even wet conditions for that matter, I got scared doing 30 on a ramp for the car was trying to step out on me.

hmm... havent had anything that bad yet, and ive had to drive in plenty of rain here in washington. could have something to do with a weight difference from the last car your tires were on. i thought the VSC was like a torque-limiting device or something for more even acceleration and to limit torque steer, not for pulling more g's on a skid pad.

well,my xB1 won't slide if your life depended on it. I also use the TRD suspension. But I like the ride better than stock. So idk, I was gonna put on the sway bar, but I have second thoughts now

You have to also remember you have 20 more horses and a higher suspension height compared to an xB. Thinner tires are always better for snow, Maybe your just gunning it a little too hard? Dont see how the rear can slide out with ABS unless your forced too much weight on a turn or hit a bump

I wasn't on the brakes. I have a bit of a problem with the E throttle too. Not very fond of it. I can't feather the gas cuz it will close up causing unwanted weight transfer. tough car to drive when it comes to "spirited" driving.

No issues with my XD, no need for vsc at all! You have to realize, the xd is lighter than most cars and has a higher center of gravity. It is not a sports car so I would not flog it like one especially in the rain or snow.

Go ahead and flog it like one, just keep it a lot more mellow in the rain and snow. It's like the xA, throw some coil overs on it and you can push turns doing crazy speeds.

Lol....wow..... First off VSC is an option for the xD, and if you really need it, then honestly imo you need to relearn how to drive. After changeing rims/tires you might have a set of tires that don't performe quite too well in the rain, or the xD just doesn't like the particular set up you have on it (wrong size maybe?). xD should be almost like the xA, in that a rear swaybar is manditory....get that and your car won't feel like the back end wants to flip on you. All I have done to my car is Eibach Sportlines, TRD rearswaybar, polyurethane front swaybar bushings, and I change out my rims and I can take corners doing 60mph and the car still wants more....and I'm still useing the stock 185-60-r15 Goodyears.

If your car is really that twitchy, you might have an issue with the electronic powersteering and might need to get that recalibrated.

thanks for telling me I don't know how to drive. I have yet to make the VSC come on in my xB1, but it coulda saved me from crashing at the same time. but whatever. My last car was a 93 Daytona with Koni adjustables and Mopar springs. also did a rear sway bar. the car had incredible turnin for a big heavy car. I think I know how to drive aggressively just not with this car. the e-throttle still kills me. Hate it actually. guess I should stick to my hobby of go cart racing since I was bashed as a driver.

well it sounds you pushed the car to hard. plain and simple.
dont blame your mistake on the car. it is an economy car after all.

any car will go into a guardrail if you try hard enough.
