Default **How much does a valet key cost?!**

I might do remote start with my alarm system. I only have the master key and ONE valet key (which will be useless if I choose to do remote start on car). So if I decide to do the remote start I'll have to get a new valet key as my back-up to my master key.

How much does it run to have a valet key made?

Thanks!
C.

well, if you can get a new master key for 85 dollars, a valet key should be cheaper then that.

but then you also have to have the dealership program the chip for the engine immobilizer and such too.

that isn't another alarm system claudia, that is a bypass module for the engine immobilizer right?

basically, instead of leaving a key in your car so it can remotely start, this thing just bypasses it for you.

so it is like just leaving the immobilzer chip of the car from the valet key in the car, but not the key itself.

That what she is doing Drax, but to leave the immobilizer chip the module needs authentication of the Computer CHIP inside the key

which would lead to the original question again.

how much can she get a valet key for.

Unless that unit is a Tru bypass that doesnt even require the chip to be near from the Key, is that the case ?

okay...the reason you are leaving your valet key in the car is so that the car will detect the presence of the key when you use the remote start. correct?

the problem is...that if you leave your valet key in your car, somebody can just break-in (like they did before) only this time, you left them a valet key that will start your car and let them just drive away.

that little device does the same thing that leaving the valet key in the car does. except that the is only the immobilzer that is bypassed, and not an actual key that will work in the ignition.

so you put that little module in the car and keep a valet key as your back up, and your remote start will work.

the reults are the same. either way, your car will be easier to steal because you are disabling the engine immobilizer. by either leaving the valet key in your car, or bypassing it with that module.

^^ we would just leave the actual chip from the key in the car not the entire key, and the minute the brake is pressed the car shuts off and the alarm sounds but you seem correct.

Okay short and simple:

The tC uses an RF(radio frequency) transponder that must be within an inch of the starter during an ignition cycle to transmit the "go" signal and allow the car to start.

To bypass this during a remote start, you must replicated this RF signal to fool the transponder into thinking a key is in the ignition and therefore allowing the car to start.

There are two ways:
A) A universal bypass with a spare key: This uses a spare key to isolate the RF signal from the key and then sends that signal via an antennae to the ignition coil during remote start to fool the car and allow it to start.

B)the XK05 immitates the immoblizer signal itself by programming it to your RF Frequency therefore requires NO spare key and accomplishes the same bypass of the cars transponder base immobilizer.
