^ A good short and simple. Though I am willing to bet the immobilizer is done over LF (Low Frequency) and not RF.

And just for further clarification, the key immobilizer does not send a 'go' signal, its more or less an identification code. The car checks to ensure the correct key identification code is starting the car.

If you use (most) remote start kits, you are leaving the identification code in the car at all times, thus anyone can hotwire or put in a $3 lowes copy in and start your car.

So if I get the bypass w/ my alarm I can use a regular $1 cut from the hardware store correct?

No. But with a valet key, Yes.

The bypass unit only sends a short pulse in order to start the car. If you try to drive it w/o the chipped key in the cylinder the immobilizer will kick in. Thats a safety feature.

It depends on how complicated you want to get.
You could permanently bypass the transponder although I wouldnt recommend it. One possibility is to wire the transponder circuit to a switch rather than to the brain of the alarm so you could manually control when its activated. Then yes, you could use a store cut key. But this is like putting in a pike pass for theives.

The actual way a bypass is wired is you put a 12v constant in and wire the ground of the bypass to a specific ground on the satellite of the remote start satellite which is only active when the car is attempting to start. This means the bypass would only activate via a remote start command.

LF is just a low intensity form of radio frequency.

According to Directed 556uw bypass i just installed in my car, there is an option to keep the signal present until the car is shut off. This is because some cars, such as a Mercedes C class, require the RF signal to be present the entire time the engine is running. So you could wire it this way in the tC although it wouldn't be necessary to permanently bypass the tC's transponder. An easier method would be to wire it to a latched ground wire on the alarm brain that continuously grounds when the car is running but shuts off when it is turned off.

Correct, like I said i was being more specific.
LF is RF in the range of 30KHz - 300KHz.
RF is in the range 3Hz - 300 GHz.

RF is one very big range.

You only have one master key?
Girl, you need to have another master key made asap while you still have a master key for the dealerships to duplicate. I've heard the consequences of losing all these type of keys can result in $1500 replacement of engine ecu's and new set of keys.
Just lookin out.

That's not true, the engine's ECU does not need to be replaced when all master keys are lost. That was for some late 90's early 2000's MY Toyota / Lexus vehicles.

When you bought your car, or atleast when I got mine, I got a little key ring with an engraved tag that has the code to the ecu so if you lose every key, they can reprogram it.
