And about the transmission, that sucks! But at least it will be covered under warranty. hope you dont have a short shift kit...

And just what, pray tell, am I bitter about? Try annoyed, at idiots who know nothing ragging on a great car. I don't rag on xBs because they're hideous...

have you been shifting into first while your still rolling forward at speeds higher than "normal" for first gear? or were you stopped?

It's got to be operator level error (you suck at shifting). Good thing I got the automatic. Who cares either way. Take it to the dealership! Thats what warrenties are for.

Sorry to hear about that, I know exactly what you are going through. At this very moment, my transmission is being replaced in my tC. What brought this on was, I would hear a grinding noise when I shifted from 1st to 2nd gear. It started to get worse, so I took it to the dealership and they told me there was a problem with the transmission and they would have to replace it. It makes you feel all warm and fuzzy knowing that your brand new car needs a new transmission!!!

Sorry again and good luck!!!

okay...so maybe it isnt operator level error

a lot times when a manual tranny is used it is user error. just think about when the wrx was released and people were complaining about the tranny in that car. i guess it couldn't of been all the new drivers to awd that didn't know what they were doing.

i would first make sure you are pushing the clutch in all the way. people like to they are, but most of the time they don't. second make sure you have the rpms up to the proper rpm.

Cold weather can affect the viscocity of the gear lube. It does mine. Switch to a synthetic fluid that reacts differently to cold weather. That is what I do,

first gear doesnt have a synchro. at least nmot normally. all gears but first and reverse do that way you can't easily downshift by accident

if im goin like 3mph and im in neutral and try to put it in first, it grinds like crazy. also it grinds when im sitting still (not all the time but quite often). i test drove a new tc last thursday and it had no problems at all downshifting/shifting to first at low speeds. goin to the dealership today, wish me luck. btw, i dont use my gears to slow me down, i use the brakes

to downshift properly ..get the rpm's up high to the oint they are when you up shift....then shift......sometimes you may need to double clutch if the rpm's are not high enough

Well, you did now... You don't need to lash out. Trolls love attention, so don't feed the trolls. If you don't value her opinion, discard it.

first gear doesnt have a synchro. at least nmot normally. all gears but first and reverse do that way you can't easily downshift by accidentFrom the new features manual.

TRANSMISSION GEAR
1. General
A triple-cone type synchromesh mechanism is used for the 1st gear and 2nd gear to increase the
synchonizer capacity. This helps to reduce the shifting effort and provide smoother shifting.
A double-cone type synchromesh mechanism is used in the reverse gear to suppress gear engagement
noise.

Tranny's fixed, but they managed to scratch/dent the driver side door on the lift and apologized and said they'de fix it after xmas due to it being so hectic right now. I'm a happy camper, for the most part. Now all I gotta do is get the bullet hole fixed.

hotbox05

bullet hole? not good. and i'm sorry that i was wrong about the no syncro thing. in my reading up on it i forgot the part that mentioned either no synchro or in newer/some cars have a ____tier synchro than other gears yet still have synchro. thats my bad. but good to hear that the problem was fixed. get that scratch/dent estimated at an independednt facility and use their estimate and do it outta that dealership. dont want them dentin' somethin else the next time right?
