changed my waterpump at 60k?
yeahh... soo the story goes.. my car was droppping real low on rpms when idling.. soo i took it to my dads friends shop and he told me he had to change the waterpump cuz it was bad.. or something or another.. only thing is, my car only has 60k on it and i really dont beat on my car... anyone else have this problem?
At 30k miles, I took my '06 tC for an oil change. They noticed that a small amount of coolant was leaking from the water pump so my water pump was replaced under warranty.
I didn't notice anything different before and no difference after the water pump was replaced. As with you, my car is all stock and I don't drive it hard either.

it could happen. water pumps are wear and tear parts. most will last 150k miles with no problems . some might have a diffecet and go bad at 10k miles. they rearly go bad. but it can happen and you never know when it will/
Hmm if you have 60k on your tC, take it to a Scion dealer. The water pump assembly and/or gasket, water pump rotor kit and/or seal kit and water pump bearing are all covered under the powertrain warranty of 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Edit: wait, did you already get it replaced???????

When I changed my oil at 30k miles I noticed dried coolant spray from the accessory drive belts. Coolant wasn't very low. Temp is in the 90's now, but we did have several 30 degree weeks. I have been meaning to bring it to the dealer to have it replaced but haven't made time yet. Hasn't leaked much coolant, I kind of think that the cold weather caused the seal to leak...
In most toyotas a new timings belt is recommended at 60k and since the water pump is right next to it that should be replaced too.
But the tc doesn't use a timing belt, its a chain which you will probably never have to replace.
Anyways, if i remember correctly, the water pump should be replaced at 120k.

Toyota Recommends a Timing Chain Replacement at 120K if I remember correctly.
Like previously stated, waterpumps are sketchy, some can last a long time, others not so long. All depends on your driving condtions and how hot you run your car. Like everything when exposed to heat, rubber and silicon gaskets expand and deteriorate over time causeing leaks.. Its just what happens....
Best thing you can hope for is that if it fails it fails while you're still under warranty or if not you at least know how to replace it yourself otherwise you will pay and arm and a leg in labor.

Tacomas have the craziest reliability of any vehicle I've ever seen. I'd say stick-shift Diesel Dodges too (I've seen one with 1.4 million miles on it, on its second clutch), but diesel is too expensive and smelly, and the interiors on those trucks don't exactly age well.

____, just went to the dealer for a service and they said that my water pump is leaking a small amount of fluid.
Car just hit 67K. Should have tooken the car in at 58K for an inspection to cover any problems under warrenty.
Screwed now, they quoted me 450$ for a replacement, how does that sound?
