Default I feel a Food Bank challenge in the air

TC4meTory has come up with this great challenge idea with our Meet n Greets / meetups between the PNW North and South.

The Idea is to collect cans and or cash to raise food for the food banks. I am told that $25 is enough for one of their huge barrels to be filled with food.

The chllenge would be the areas team that pulled in the most would have their cars washed by the area that collected the least.

I know there are a lot of details missing here and I am sure we can iron them out as we get organized. None the less this would be for a good cause as we know the food banks are hurting for food right now with this crazy raising the prices on everything..

Let us know if you are interested in the challenge.

Lets see.........I did a back of the car full for the Dodge charity cruise that no one came to but Brad.........then filled the car again for the Subie lunchen a week ago in Portland.........So do you guys really want to challenge me in a food drive.......I would guess the Tacoma area could win on just me........

No serious.........sounds like a good idea........I am sure money is tight for everyone but my cuboards are always full........I am always able to afford beer..........my gas tank is full............the rent is paid...........I can give a little of my good fortune to someone........

I will always remember what it was like to have to get my food from a dumpster........perhaps we can help a person not need to do that..........just incase you need to know Thursdays at Safeway and Kmarts they toss out the food.........sucks huh.

Here's a quick list of things they need:
canned meats (tuna, chicken etc)
canned and boxed meals (soup, stew, mac and cheese)
canned or dried beans
peanut butter
pasta, rice, cereal
canned fruits
100 percent fruit juice (canned, plastic, or boxed)

I love the things they have listed that they can't use
Alcoholic beverages or mixes this is for a good cause but I am not giving up my vodka!

So now we have some interest. We need to come to an agreement on how we want to break this down. Should it be each event, Meet n Greet? Or vs Wa or just at each function?

tc4metory how long do we have? Wow I have a million questions...

Well there's no real time limit.. We did ours (at work) for the entire month of May.. (which is around the time they start running low on food) so maybe if we ran it for a month give or take

but guys please check you cans before you turn end up like this lady http://www.katu.com/news/19329319.html

this is a GREAT Idea. At work, we collected just over $200 in donations from customers over the memorial day weekend. We donated it to the University District Food Bank. When my boss dropped off the checks he said that the food bank was EXTREMELY low on food items. This would be a great time to do a food drive!

See this a tough one for me as our Meet n Greets are here in Beaverton / Hillsboro Or and Vancouver Washington. I have not heard anything from Southren Oregon or anywhere in between. So I would like to see what everyone thinks is fair before we decide.
