Figured it couldn't hurt to ask before I pull the trigger on adapters...

Specs I'm looking at after adapters will be:

17x8.5 all around
F: et37
R: et30

Id like to run 215/45's. Do guys think ill have to worry about more than a little fender rolling? Ive had some body work in a rear fender, and dont wanna funk it up. I'm on rokkors now, all the way down on stock wheels. And if I can safely go a little wider in the rear, I'm down with that.

Copy that. Much appreciated. I really dont even want to be at that width in the fronts, but thats with the thinnest adapters from motorsport-tech. I thought you could go 15mm, but apparently thats for cars with a different lug requirement. And as for the rears, I'm thinking any mud used in the fender mending shouldn't* be up near the top of the fender, but im bound to find out :)

And I know the tire sizes and offsets I'm looking at aren't aggressive, but I figured you guys would know about how it'd work out. Thanks.

Not that mine are considered aggressive. So you're 9.5 +28 effective?

18x9.5 +16 effective rear
18x8.5 +16 effective front

I'm running 215/40 front and 225/40 back.
Minor stretch. First time in the fitment game and i'm experimenting.
Fronts fit perfect.

I have 0 camber out back so they were poking and rubbing like crazy.
Fenders rolled and slightly pulled today, getting an alignment out back to see if -4 camber does the trick.
If not i'm getting my fenders pulled/flared.
If i have to, i'll run 215/40 all around.

Its not the fenders where you gonna have problem. You need to dremel away some from the rear bumper and the tab that holding it and some metal too..

Yeah. I saw where it was rubbing where the bumper meets the Rear quarter panel. Gonna do the trimming on that as soon as the weather clears.

So what do you guys think..can runnin on 18x9.5+25.be an aggressive stance?

Want get an aggressive stance without having to pull my backs. Thanks!

Jasper Ash
05-01-2012, 04:58 PM
Yeah that's a great fitment. But remember, aggressive "stance" refers to the combination of wide-fitting wheels and a low drop. A fender roll on the rear and natural camber should be enough to let you tuck tire. You might have to clear some of that rear bumper tab as well.

Thanks Jasper..got the drop already..looking for the wheels now blah..I have the backs cut. Problem I have with the backs with rolling/pulling is I got hit in that area so there is bondo soewhere around there. Rolling em would just crack everthing.

Jasper Ash
05-01-2012, 07:02 PM
Yeah you'll have a hard time tucking tire with that fitment without rolling. I think Devin is at 18x8 +35 and he's pretty close to rubbing without rolled fenders.

Another option would be shaving the fenders.

There's not much you can do other than getting smaller tires. I've been there and I ran out of ways to make it work. 215/40s definitely make a lot of difference.

You can see pics of the cae in some posts I've made in this thread in recent days and also u can check it out on dailydetergent.com (jaspers blog :D )

As far as how I did it well I have maxxed out negative camber in the rear the rear fenders are also rolled (by me) no cutting the bumper or shaving n I removed the bolt on each side so it doesn't rub. it doesn't rub at all not even on huge bumps we have here in miami. Now the fronts I have maxxed out camer on stock bolts with the the front fenders rolled as well (by me) no shaving no cutting either but I need slightly more camber up front as it does rub a bit up front so I'm not as low as id like to be in the front but its nothing I can't handle right now and its mainly on dips that r decent size. Both front and rear I tuck a bit of tire.

wow. so hmm. 215/40 makes that much of a difference huh.... guess im going for 215's after my 235/35 wears out. anyone on here with 235/35 on 9.5 like me?

i rolled and pull (a little) all fenders and cut/hammered the rear bumper tab and metal and i'm still rubbing a tiny bit in the rear driver side when im driving tucking tire.

for those running 215 on 9.5: do you ever feel like the tire is going to debead? i take my turns a little faster on like ramps cuz of my rear sway. :)

Ah, yes! I have seen that blog. Super sick car man. All 3 cars are dope.
I'm running +16 offset, so it's a bit more poke to deal with.

There's not much you can do other than getting smaller tires. I've been there and I ran out of ways to make it work. 215/40s definitely make a lot of difference.
Yea. I guess you're right. I might have my fenders flared a little instead. We'll see.

Thanks n yeah I know but I had a previous set up with lower offset idr now as this is my 7th set of wheels in a lil less than 3 years of owning the car lol but I def say it it could be also the type of tires u r running as some r run wider than others (I work for a tire wholesaler) n there's a dif in every tire I can tell u that much but it takes time work n patience for sure

Everyones' tc's are looking good. Looking for a little input on tire sizing. What do you guys think about a setup of 17x10 +20 wheels with some temporary 225/45/17's? I know it is a pretty tall tire, but seeing if anyone has experimented with this before. I will be rolling fenders, of course. No pulling them as of yet since I am leery about an area that was bondo'd before.

you may have to get them flared out alot, or it'll look like a mexi-flush

these wheels are the specs that u posted but with a tire of 225/40/17's and they're still kinda too big, you'll barely be able to drop it

I don't see that as being the problem. I have been following this thread for a while and finally at the point where i can afford to get into the stance game. I am simply trying to get some final info before I waste my money on something that will not work properly on the tc. As far as the not being very smart comment, I do believe that being in AP, the Gifted Program, and advanced classes throughout growing up qualifies me as not being a dumb person. I am just not experienced in the fitment scene yet, so I was hoping to get some good input from people who have experimented with multiple setups. So until you have met me, I would appreciate you not making assumptions about my intelligence. I have looked up to many people that have been posting in this thread, including you Hayseed. It is true that I am not "smart" in this certain topic, but I am sure you were in my situation when starting out and had questions. I am simply asking for good advice from more experienced people. However, I have no hard feelings towards you Hayseed. I am not a "drama" kind of person.

Haha I don't have your magical fitment powers. I'm kidding. I was just referring to if I was on 225/45/17's, I might not be able to drop mine low enough and get enough camber dialed in to keep mine from looking like mexi-flush on my current suspension setup. I was also referring to the picture that dam262a posted as looking kinda mexi-flush and how I don't want to look like that.

I am not "HARDCORE," nor am I trying to say I am. I am new to the fitment game, and I am NOT an expert on it. That is the reasoning behind my questions. I understand that not many, if anyone, uses a 45 series tire. It is a fairly tall tire, and I stated my understanding of that in earlier posts. I was just curious if anyone had even tried. I am well aware that I will more than likely have to stay away from anything larger than a 215/40 or 225/35, but as I said, I was just curious. And as for the research, I have done quite a bit. I have acutally been following this thread for well over a year...acutally before I even had an account on SL. I don't see a reason for the hostility between us. I am trying to be a humble, chill guy...

Well do more research. All the info you need is in this thread. Otherwise you just look ignorant. 17x9 +25 will not be aggressive. It'll be barely flush. Stretch has nothing to do with how far the wheels stick out. Research, and come up with something on your own. Thats 90% of the fun.

Bro just get the wheels and don't put them on til u have the 215/40 n u will b fine 225/35 weak sauce on a 9 and do ur self a favor DO NOT put a 45 series tire period unless u wanna have buckled fenders n end up costing u more money than if u do it right the FIRST time

Thanks man. I don't mean to sound ignorant, as I know I have much to learn about this stuff. I was simply looking for some sound advice. I'm sorry if I didn't convey my ideas well in words; I know stretch has nothing to do with how far the wheel sticks out, offset of the wheel including spacers and such does. Stretch just allows for a wider wheel as the tire won't rub the fender as much when dropped and proper camber is dialed in.

I'm trying to figure out how that "rule" made it onto the baller/custom wheel thread. They spent the time to figure their custom wheels specs, shouldn't have to post them. This thread has been around long enough that a baseline of wheel sizing/specs have been figured with running off the shelf wheels running similar specs, it's going to take a bit of tweaking to get things set how you want. Does it help posting specs yes, and if it's an off the shelf wheel why not? But if someone has something custom order I don't expect them to throw their numbers out there, or at least anytime soon.

Azul

Center caps are a bit difficult to remove well not if u gorilla grip. But buy a center cap remover on eBay $10, and then use a 17mm wrench comes off easily. But put some tape on the inside if u powder coat the wheels so it won't damage the paint.

dropzone
05-11-2012, 05:07 AM
I got the center caps and tool in a few days from a local shop so I'll be giving them a call to order another. I'll try the gorilla grip tactic and to remember about taping the centers after paint.

zbucy
05-23-2012, 10:15 PM
Well, I don't have "aggressive" fitment yet, but i'm getting a little closer to where I want to be. Finally got a set of wheels that I like. I know they aren't "high end", but I'm not a wheel snob and I just really wanted to go with something different that no one around me has on any vehicle. I'm in love with my wheels and I can't wait to go lower and get my spacers that I ordered to make me more flush.

18"x8" all around. Ti-17 wheels wrapped in 215/35 tires. Held on by matching Muteki Neo-Chrome lug nuts. Will get new tires with more stretch once I go lower later this season. This was just a starting point, as I'm new to the fitment game.

With that being said, here's what I got so far. Take a look and feel free to shoot me and feedback or advice! Thanks a lot!

My favorite thread right here:bow: Looking good everybody!
Allright guys, if everything works out I should be revealing my setup this Sunday at Scion Expo. Actually, make it 2 new set ups, just finished my wife's xb last weekend:biggrin: After 4 long months of waiting I'm finally getting my coilovers. Delivery is tonight! Also picking up my other 3 wheels from the tire shop tonight when I get off work. They only were able to put 1 tire on yesterday and that took them like 45 minutes. That should give you idea for stretch I'm doing lol You will also see negative offsets and maybe even double digits negative camber (hopefully I don't have to go that far lol) I'll post some sneak peaks later on tonight so stay tuned:lalala: This is going to be fun weekend!
