Default rca outs on stock t1809 head unit?

i did a search for 1809, but didn't find the answer i'm looking for...

so i'm going to put in two amps and two 12s this weekend - it's the system i had in my 01 4runner.... so before i tear up the interior i want to be sure i have all the parts i need. i thought that i had read somewhere that the t1809 had rca outs, but not 100% sure. anyone have any pictures of the back of theirs? trying to find out if i need to get line out converters or not.

thanks!

You need a converter. There is no RCA on the stock head unit. Unless you purchase the premium deck.

i'm pretty sure i do have the premium deck.... it's not the basic radio. i don't know if there's a difference between upgraded and/or premium, but i did get charged extra for the radio.

if it is the upgraded radio, then it does in fact have rca outs then?

for the benefit of those who have the same question in the future, i present the following:

upgraded radio model number t1809 rear shot:

so it does indeed have three sets of rca outputs: one for the subs, one for rear speakers, and one for the front speakers.

yes, it's a crappy cell phone pic - but my wife has the camera, and she's currently about 750 miles north of home right now....

Default return to speakers?

This may be seem like a very naive question, but I have never added an amp before. I want to boost signal fro more clarity and punch without changin the existing speakers.

It seems very obvious that I run my HU rca-outs into the rca-in on the amp. How do I connect back to the speakers then? Do I need to run new wires from the rca-outs of the amp all the way through the doors (and rear body panels) to the speakers, or can I buy a harness to run from the rca-out on the amp into the existing speaker wires (male connector with the white square harness above the rca's in the pic). Since I'm gonna need to remove them from the back of the HU anyway, right?

^ You'll either have to run all new speaker wire from the amp to the speakers, or at least from the amp to a location where you can splice into the existing stock speaker wires. I did the latter, splicing at the kick panels, so I never had to remove the door panels, just ran new wire from the amp to kick panels.

alright... iv got the premium radio in mine and i already tried hookin up an amp from the sw rca output... i got everything hooked up and wires run and i turned on the radio and there was no signal to the amp. the sw setting in the radio said there was no signal either... i bought an add an amp converter and wired it up to my stock speaker wire and still nothing...

can anyone help answer that question or tell me where i can go to solve this?

as far as the amps not coming on, do you have the remote wire connected? the amps should have a power, a ground, and a remote signal. the remote signal should come on when the headunit does, therefore telling the amps to power on.

as far as the antenna, just grab the metal plug near the base of the unit and tug. it'll come out.

hope this helps...

yea i have my remote wire and my 4awg wire from the battery witha 80 amp fuse and my rcas.

idk if it matters or not seeing how the remote is just a signal but i have it spliced into the ciggerete lighter. when u turn the key to the first click or w/e it has power so goin to the remote side of the amplifier.

im pretty sure its my rcas tho and idk how to get a signal out of the premium headunit

for what it's worth, mine were on by default...

forgive me if i'm assuming too much or not giving you enough credit on your audio knowledge, but what about the new speaker wires from the amp to the speakers? i'm assuming you're talking about door speakers? if so, you did physically cut and cap the wires from the headunit to the speakers, then spliced in new wire from the amp to the splice heading to the speakers?

=]

edit: if you have all that, and the led on the amp shows green or ok, then it probably is your rca wires.

nah they are to a cvr 12. i have done all the wiring myself so im bound for error. this is the 3rd car i have wired up tho so idk.

my amp has a light coming on that is red and it says green is power and red is protect. what its protecting is what im not sure but the light is coming on so i know i have power. my ground is fine and my remote is fine. so all thats left is my rcas really which is coming out of the stock radio which is y i have asked around about this premium radio.

this amp has worked in a different car too so i know its not the amp.

ah! if the amp says the led should be green, but going into red/protect mode, then check that you have at least 5v coming in on the remote wire, and that you have proper ground. ground wire should be longer than a foot, and bolted/screwed down onto bare metal. =]
