As of last wednesday I'm the proud new owner of an xA... took the car completely stock, didn't want to pay dealer prices for most any of the options available. Well, except the rear bumper applique (I'm constantly putting stuff in/out my trunk so I figured it would be a good idea. Altho I'm STILL waiting to have that installed, but that's a frustrated rant for another topic :evil:)

The question now is, what to do first? The wheel gap kills me when I look at the car, but with the holidays I can't just run out and drop a bunch of cash on the car right now so I don't want to get springs AND new tires/wheels... looking to go up to 17". Which of those two options makes the biggest difference in shortening up that gap anyway? And what else do people recommend as "must-have" options? I'm open to suggestions since I'm not really sure which direction I feel like going in first. Thanks :D

The first place I went after leaving the dealership was to my local stereo shop to have a basic keyless entry installed for $140. I love it. Also, this morning I ordered the Boomerang armrest. I'll review it on here when I get it and install it.

yeah definitely do that, would love to know how that turns out. When i was reading reviews some of the "cons" listed on the xA was "no armrest". I figured Ive gone 5 years driving without an armrest (an old 98 escort i never took care of and needed to get out of before the winter came) so i didnt think it'd be a big deal - then I realized I'm driving 5speed again instead of auto like my escort was and now I want an armrest! :lol:

keyless entry for $140 ain't bad, the dealership told me it was $500 for keyless w/alarm, or $400 for just keyless. Needless to say I laughed and said forget it, but sounds like you got a decent deal

hey man good job on buying an xA. Go for the drop first then get the wheels unless your like me and found a super deal on some 17s and cant pass it up. then later get some performnce mods(exhaust,cai,headers)

Depending on where you live, an alarm may be your best first purchase. Although wheels should probably be your first visual enhancement, they do draw even more attention to an already attention-getting ride.

I'm not an expert, but as I understand it, changing wheel sizes doesn't affect the size of the gap above the tires. Installing lowering springs will. I've got the upgrade alloy 15" wheels and ordered the TDK springs delivered but not installed. I'll have a certified mechanic do the spring install for a LOT less than the dealership wants for the job.

Also, I've installed the Boomerang armrest, and it is so sweet. It looks stock and I know it's the best practical investment I've made on the car.

Mine should be here in a few days. Also on the list of "Must do mods" would be the cupholder illumination. I just did it last night in less than an hour for a total cost of $8.00 by following the instructions in this post:
