Default injector upgrade, ECU questions.....NOOBIE

so heres the question, im boosting the box with a t25 turbo, 8psi, what size injectors will i need and what will fit? 05'

next, as far as the ecu, will i need a piggyback system or Emanage, if i get a vortech super fuel management unit?????? whats recommended can the stock ecu handle 8lbs of boost and accomodate for it by itself??

1. i think some boosted xb's and xa's have successfully used stock tc injectors, which i believe are 370 cc.

2. emanage is a piggyback ecu.

3. no way in hell could the stock ecu handle 8 psi.

4. haven't read a thread about anybody using a vortech super fuel management unit.

5. try emanage blue or ultimate or aem f/ic for fuel management.

6. i couldn't imagine the xb needing more than 440cc, depends on your tune though.

For the injectors drax is dead on! The tC ones are drop in and will give you what you need, however if you can't get a good used set cheap new ones are costly... check out the Deatsch Werks tC Plug and Play 550cc Injectors for a very cost effective solution and as long as you have a good FMU like the AEM FIC these will work great in the xB! As far as electronics goes make sure to get something your local tuner supports as that will make the overall project go much smoother! You will notice that most issue relating to adding boosting a NA car stem around a poor or no tune as the best fitting system can run like crap if it is not working in harmony with the stock ECU!

thanks guys, ill try the stock tc injectors first,

as far as the piggyback......AEM F/IC or emanage blue, which is more user friendly for an 05' XB

You could start by asking the question which one requires additional software and a cable to access the programming! I'm all for the FIC but read up on the two yourself and then pick on what you think will work best for you. A great article was done by Paul over a Dezod breaking down both boxes you can find that here... http://www.dezod.com/files/FICvsEMAN.pdf

and you should probably get a year matched ecu out of a toyota echo, its the same motor as ours, but ithe ecu doesnt learn, and it doesnt have traction control and ABS. but it wont overthrow your tune and give a check engine light like our stock ecu does.

Yes…. 10 to 12 depending on all the variables that go into a quality tune.

i went with the greddy e-manage ultimate because the AEM FI/C was newly released and WAY too expensive. But now i would have purchased the AEM

Bang for the buck AEM hands down
While the eManage starts off costing less factor in the support tool if you want to connect to it without going to a shop there are also other "add-ons" you would have to include to bring it to a semi comparable level as the FIC...but as I have said before the only thing that would change my mind would be if there was absolutly no one in my area to help with the AEM as local support will prove valuable at some point! Sometimes it is better to pay a bit more up front to avoid hassles down the road even if that means delaying the purchase for a bit!
