After about 3 weeks of waiting i got my final delivery date tonight. It will be hitting kansas city between august 4-11th. manager thought it would be around the 5th-7th to be exact. Almost worse now knowing exactly when to expect it.

 

My xD is slated to arrive between 8/1 and 8/6. The wait is almost impossible to bear. I have only been waiting a week - lucky for me. I am supposed to be contacted when the xD is moved to (G) status.

Just wondering... I'm looking to getting myself an xD and at this time, I figured go for the '09. After calling 2 dealers, 1 says I'd have a wait of about 6-8 weeks, the other is telling me 3-5 Months! You guys are getting '09s already? I wonder why the sales guys I talked to seemed like they were guessing and really didn't know?

 

I've been waiting 2+ months for my 2008...

 

If the dealers have 08's on the lot then they are telling you about a long wait becuase they want you to buy the 08 instead of the 09. They dont ever want to get stuck with two model years on the lot at the same time. If they dont have any 08's on the lot then I have no idea why they would say it would take that long to get an 09. Where do you live? You can ask them when they received the allocation for the first 09 delivery. Delivery is about 3 or so weeks after a dealer gets notice of its allocation. They have sheets that have dates of allocation and expected delivery that are printed out months in advance. You can ask to see them. If they are giving you these numbers off the top of there heads without looking, then they are probably just trying to get you to buy one of the remaining 08's.

 

Do your local dealerships have xDs in stock? We only got about 48 xDs in July and demand is higher (at least in our area).

I heard production of the 08 already stopped and that's why they are only trickling in. I haven't heard of a firm release date of the 09MY (should be in mid-August/Early September since there are no updates).

The salesman that said 5 months for the 09 must be a new guy... some people still think the "09" model is released in January of "09"... lol.

 

I'm getting my 08 next week... was told that 09s in my area would be September 1 or later.

 

The sales guy that gave me 3-5 months has been there for awhile coz I know people who bought from him. I checked and they have no xDs on their lot. The other lady who said 6-8 weeks said that the 2008s were still being made, etc.

I'm in the Chicago Area. Gonna keep checking around to find somebody that might actually know something!

 

3 RS 1.0's in my area as of this morning. If they had one in a manual, I might think about going after it.

 

I am getting the BSP.

I know two of the dealerships in the area I visited (SW OH) were expecting delivery within 2 weeks. They were only getting 2-3 xDs.

For xDs being in such high demand I'm surprised I've only seen 1 other xD in town. I see tons of xBs though.

 

no, we have had no xd's in the kc area since first week in june. The last shipment came in around may. Thats why i cant believe people are still waiting on 08's or are still carrying them. i just dont see how 08's that stopped production a while ago can still be delivered and possibly hit the lot after 09's. Somebody does not have the facts right at the dealership.

 

all i know is in our region the 08s are done being produced. last month july was the last month that u could put an order and it would be an 08 from japan. now any orders will be 09 with the price increase and increase on the delievry charge. but this month will be our last delevry of 08 xds. and if u order an 09 right now with allocation lists being every 2 weeks. the timeframe waiting is 6-8 weeks . could be quicker dependin on dealer ,but nothing longer.

 

Since the xD is built in Japan, it takes a few months before the actual vehicle is seen stateside. Once production halts, we will still see previous model year vehicles move in for at least a month (depends on demand moreso). I was purchasing my xD and was asked if I wanted to wait for the 09, I was only given a general date (I'm not in sales, so I don't get any info, haha) but even they aren't completely sure. It's what is passed down from one level at a time.

 

From the above posts, it looks like we don't really know any more than we did last month. We're just getting more

Since you're in my area and work at a dealership I take it? I was wondering, will they let me order an '09 specifically now? The salespeople I talk to seem to discourage you from doing so (I checked and they don't even have any xDs on the lot). Again, I don't want someone forcing me to order an '08, wait 6-8 weeks for it and I wind up waiting for it while the '09s start are already rolling onto the lot...

I actually went and contacted Scion Corp. They said they couldn't give me an exact date when the 09's were going to roll out but that it's also dependent by region. He was in California and said that there were some already on the lots there - granted only a few but the '09s have been sighted there nonetheless.

Even tho there's no difference, still trying to figure out whether to hold out for the '09.

 

It would be nice to know who Scion/Toyota ships through. It would be great if we could track the movement of our cars ourselves. My xD is supposed to be on a train from OR to IL, but it would be nice to know where it is now.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hello, I've been watching this forum for xD news since the end of May when I put $500 for a manual xD... The dealership couldn't find an '08 in the color(s) I wanted and told me that I'd have to wait for an '09.

I finally got the "some time in Aug" estimate from the dealership around July 1st. The dealership seemed to have been in the dark as much as I have, however they are sitting on my $500 without so much as a call since July 1st...

It's great to hear that the '09 models might be available soon. I'm going to give the dealership a call by Friday this week and see if they know anything yet.

 

I was given an estimate of 8/1-8/6 and have not heard from the dealer about the xD in over a week. This is a little disappointing because the sales manager stated he would call me if there was any delay in the shipment. I know it's not really his fault the car is delayed, but I was hoping to get a little more information on what's going on. I figured the dealer would at least let me know where in the country the car may be.
