Default tC Breathing : Intake, Piping, and Exhaust

Hello there all, as the title of the thread reads I want to improve air flow through my tC, which in turns creates more ponys. Right now my car is breathing like this () and I want it to breath like this ( ), with its channels open . To do this I need to open the intake up, and change the exhaust. Unfortunately I know anything about this - thats where you come in. I want to have the same size diameter piping all the way from intake to exhaust, to eliminate resistance. What are my best options for intake and exhaust (preferably cat back).....and also headers? Alot of people seem to be going for the DC headers, are there any others or is that the best? What about Cold Air Intake vs. any others? Is Greddy coming out with any Evo series for tC? Whats the best possible set up for me? From intake to exhaust, I need it all. Any advice helps.

i'd wait for the weaponr race header, it will eliminate the cat and you'll have much better airflow, you won't pass emissions with it, and your CEL will be on, but it's a nice gain compaired to just a normal header. and i believe borla has a cat-back system they just put out.

DONT buy any products that will turn your CEL on, thats just stoopid. When your CEL is on your car runs in SAFE mode and you will lose a consider amount of performance and gas mileage. Your best bang for your buck will be AEM cold air (or some other kind of cold air tintake, dont really matter there) DC 4-1 header, eliminates pre-cat and does not turn on your CEL, and a cat back exhaust system, borla or i think injen is making one at this time as well.

HTH

The Weapon*R header DOES NOT trigger the CEL. We drove with it for a few days and had no codes.

Is it better to go with all one brand? Like Weapon R intake and headers? Is the weapon r CAI? Really looking for best perfomance-wise. So the light does not trigger with the Weapon R header right? Are there any online dealers for Weapon R? What about exhaust? Any suggestion? What's the best setup possible?

Default Installed the Weapon R and Extra's

I installed the Weapon R intake.. Very easy.. Only drawback is, it's really loud when you put your foot into it. I also put TRD Springs and TRD Rear Sway Bar. I am waiting on my Hotchkis front strut bar. I was told that Toyota told them to back to the drawing board and redisgn it.

I would recomend getting the Weapon R, it makes a huge difference. I would do the springs and bars first though, this help the suspension %100.

Short Ram's a waste of money. I'd do a AEM or K&N cold air intake.

Just my .02

And if you can afford it, try to get the shocks too.

Getting parts of all the same brand shouldn't make that much of a difference. You might get a price break if you buy 'em all of the same brand at the same time , but do some research on each component and combos to see which is best. I'm probably gonna wait until after Christmas to save up some money until I buy this stuff. Maybe all these opposing opinions about parts will die down too :-P

Short ram is a simplier intake system where it's just a tube sticking out with a filter and is still under your hood. A cold air intake is a tube that goes down into the fender or behind the front bumper to gather cold air up to the intake. A short ram system is cheapier, but doesn't provide those few extra horses. (Correct me if I'm wrong)
