Does anyone out there have this head unit?
If so, how do you like it? How does it sound? Can you post some pics of it in your tC?

I'm planning to buy one in a few weeks. Right now I have the stock Pioneer "premium" unit in there, which is pretty nice... but I really want to put in the 7" LCD with the built-in navigation, DVD, etc.

I plan to just swap out the head units. I do not plan to add extra power amps, etc. (maybe eventually)

I'm hoping that someone here has this unit in their tC and could comment on it and tell me if there's anything I should know in advance.

Thanks.......

Got any pics of the 7120 in your tC? I'd like to see what it looks like sitting in the dash. I think it's basically the same as 8120...forgot what the small difference was exactly.

Does it work well with iPod? I heard that you can't fastforward through mp3 songs... is that true??

and if you are not going to be adding amps and adding better mids....your kinda wasting your money

Blaze,
I guess you don't know how to edit posts???
No, I did not see your review... mainly because I am not a regular of this forum. I've been here once before about 6 months ago, made a post or two about HID lights, and that is it.
Get off my back please.
I already have a Garmin GPS, but to have it IN the dash will be a nice step up for me... as will the DVD player, touch screen, rear view cam, USB inputs, etc. I don't think it will be a waste of money. I'm sure that I'll eventually upgrade some speakers too... just not anytime soon.

Does anyone know the maximum drive size the USB inputs can handle?

it will handle a 250gb harddrive BUT the problem is powering the harddrive

a 250gb hardrrive usually consumes 1amp of current
the headunit only puts out 500mA

you would need a seperate power supply

I think some smaller 1.8" harddrives will work

as long as you stay under the 500mA of current you will be ok

Sweet, thanks for that info about the drive size.
The USB inputs are good for both audio and video, right?

A couple more questions...

Can the steering wheel controls still be used with this unit?

I can't use the iPod wiring that is with the stock Pioneer setup, right? Will the cable that Kenwood sells reach to the center console where stock iPod plugs are?

Thanks

i think you can use them for video also,im not much of a mobile video guy

sterring wheel controls with a pac adapter from crutchfield ,they run about 50-70 depending on where you go

the stock ipod cable will not work

the ipod cable is $30 and is VERY fast
I think the cable is about 5ft long,it should reach

Sweet.....thanks again for the info.
I can't wait to get this thing :)

I just noticed in one of your pics, it looks like the door is still there over the unit...
Does it still close? I read somewhere that the double-DIN screens made the door inoperable.

look for the "d3 installed" thread

you will have to drill the holes in the factory brackets for the door to close, its very easy to do and takes 2 min tops

Ok... I found the D3 thread.
I'll look that over.

Thanks again
