everything thy make is for a honda, why would you want another tow hook mounted somewhere else on the front when our cars already come with a pem one, and there are other companys making a direct replacment one

I still laugh at having the tow hook in all the time.. sorta like saying you expect to need a tow... in many places that would be bait for a lot of jokes  Kinda like the guy I saw the other day with Honda written backwards on the front window of his accord so you could read it in your rearview.. I guess so the guy beating him would know what he beat :D

Honestly though, do what you want if that is what you are into.

well it obviously should have been becuase you have a tc with a circular plate on the bumper which covers a hole that screams " PUT A TOW HOOK IN ME!"

Dr_Isotope
08-18-2008, 04:42 AM
Exactly. A COVER. No where does it say "Screw this thing into the bumper and drive around with it sticking out." Every time I see one on a perfectly functional tC, I want to grab a length of cable and padlock it to a lamppost.

I could understand it if there was no cover and just a hole. You'd want to put something there. But that's why there is a cover. Even if for some crazy reason they came with no cover there so you could easily put the hook on, I'd still hope someone made a cover to fit there.

i actually had a cop come in my store the other day and he saw my car and commented that he knew of a tC that had gotten stolen the other day cause the guy had the tow hook installed at all times and the thief just hooked it up a tow truck and went away with it. haha

i told him i was glad someone did that to the RICER.

engifineer
08-18-2008, 09:58 PM
tons of cars have places for tow hooks.. not just the tC.. and most people leave them covered up. Having it in is like saying your car is such a pos it breaks down and needs towed all the time :) If it was and old Chevette, I would probably be all for leaving the tow hook in

Elijahtc
08-18-2008, 10:39 PM
i just don't understand the fad. how is a metal rod with a loop hanging from it cool? it kills the body lines and makes absolutely no sense at all.

if it was a full on race car i would understand cause they get towed around the track a lot. but for a daily driver it just looks rice and screams "im an idiot and my car is a POS"

HKSpeed
08-18-2008, 11:09 PM
its the same thing as stickers and graphics. it gives a racecar look and/or implies the car is fast. LOL.

same reason people put roll bars in street cars. i dont think those people reasonably expect to roll their cars over.

weeloTC
08-18-2008, 11:11 PM
first off everyone talking crap about the hook is appartley retarded, your not going to steal a car from a hook that is offset to one side, if so it will be dragging down the road at an angle, or would not go straight up a trailer as such, and it doesnt say im a pos and breaks down all the time, the hook is there in case of being stuck off in a ditch or snow for you northern drivers, its there to quickly help you get pull out of a bad situation. thats why it is a required part on full out track cars, so your not having to dig down low in the dirt to pull the car out or ect., must people run them for the same reason guys run adj coilovers on a street car, or lightweight race wheels and race rubber on a car that is an automatic, because to them its what they choose to do weather they use it for what it is intended for or not. not every car on here belongs to you, why would you want everyone to do the things you like to a car, then there will be a 100000 tC's all looking the same and we would be no better of fthen just going to the dealership and leaving them stock from the get go!

like i said, its a "race look" to see the hook, who cares if one guy runs it, and another doesnt it, i happen to put mine in and out quite often, sometimes i like the look, sometimes i dont, thats what is best about it, its that easy to change back :P

ack154
08-18-2008, 11:24 PM
I'm not sure if you can compare a totally non-functional tow hook to coilovers and lightweight wheels with race tires... I'm not even sure where that comes into play.

Yes, it's required on full track cars for the reason you're stating. But serves zero purpose on a street car. It's in the trunk for easy access so you still don't have to dig down in the dirt. You get it out of the trunk and put it in the bumper. Easy.

weeloTC
08-18-2008, 11:33 PM
it has all the same things to do with it, you choose to run a cover over the hole and others choose to run the hook, just cause someone has it in and doesnt use it is no reason to knock them, just like a car fully raced out with a big stereo that never sees a track is that persons choice. and it is funtional, maybe not at the moment, but you never know, all im saying is get over yourselfs, tie my car to a pole and see what happens, and just so you know dr iso, i lost respect for you, as a bussiness man selling a product, its not nice to go out and bash those who buy your stuff. think about things like that before you speak. i know you have a large support group and lots of guys buy from you, but i wont never mention your name again and i sure wont display it on any mods list, just bad bussiness, you have to understand that someones desire to customize is what keeps money in the pockets of guys like you, so for you to talk crap on what someone chooses weather you like it or not is not cool. call me old fashion, but it bothers me

i understand that not everything anyone does is going to make everyone happy, there are a ton of things i dont understand, but thats what i like about our cars, and this hobby, cause it allows you to do what you like. thats all, not everything on your car is something i would like to see on a tC, but i have never left a neg comment cause its "your" car.

but PTuning's car is actually used for purpose

true, and so are the rest of the parts installed on his car, but not everyone can say that cause so many folks buy things just to have them. not everything on your car is used to the fulliest. this arguement can go on and on, all im saying is if someone sees something on a track car and likes it, let them put it on there street car, alot of the things we do are insired from race cars. so let it go.

What a truly epic idea.

I've seen that Formula D car with the "In Case Of Awesome" sticker on the tow hook. The ONLY acceptable excuse for having a tow hook 24/7 is if you have something like that going with it.

Oh come on man.

He does have a business, as do I, customizing tC's. We even share web space. And I have disagreed with the tastes of many that have later had me do led swaps for them :) And I am sure that many who he has disagreed with have bought short shifters, etc from him. We have good products and very reasonable prices (which is almost non-existent in this market segment these days). So most that dont get all butt hurt over everything dont care if we agree, they are there to buy a service or product from us. If someone wants to go off and go emo and not buy from me because I said something bad about something they like, then I could care less (Guess what? I have a full time career.. this is side money, which is why my prices are so reasonable.. I dont NEED this as a business, I do it because I like it and like providing a nicely priced service to people) .

I guess we could be your typical salesman that likes what you like, or we could just be normal people that like and dislike our own things, maybe even disagreeing with the customer on what looks good (oh gosh no batman!!!!!!). People are too touchy nowadays for sure. It is like emo central around here. I guess in that light, it is cool to "have your own style or opinion" as long as it kisses the @$$ of everyone elses so as not to hurt any feelings.

I think this thread has run its course... right into the ground.

I think it is fair to say that tow hooks are absolutely unnecessary to be installed for daily driving. They're in the trunk by default b/c that's the best place for them.

If you feel the need to run daily with your two hook installed... good for you. But don't be surprised when MANY people think it looks stupid and likely flame you.
