Default Anyone ever try Continental ExtremeContact tires?

Look like a good buy to me... good price, good reviews across the charts. I'm in the market for a well rounded tire that isn't too expensive, will last a long time (at least 50,000 miles), and gets good traction on dry and wet pavement. Snow isn't much of a problem for me (Los Angeles). A local shop will get me these tires plus mount and balance and warranty for 460 bucks... good buy? or does anyone have negative experience with them...

I've used them. Kept them for winters (went through 2 of them with one set). I change my tires in the summer, so these were stored when not in use. I don't know how many miles I got from them though.

They're good tires... but a bit squishy on dry pavement. Wet traction and light snow, they're awesome. But they're just not "great" on dry pavement.

Another option would be to check for some Pirelli PZero Nero M/S. I think they'll be around the same price and I've also heard good things about them.

I'm not looking for super high traction auto-x or race tires... just ones for a daily driver that can handle an occasional hard turn or two. I haven't even installed a rear sway yet... even though that is on my to-buy list... after tires, iPhone, and subwoofer. Being on a college budget sucks.

I did look into the Pirelli's but my local shop doesn't sell them... and I kinda wanna stick with them cuz they will ship and mount + balance for free if I order the tires through them... in addition to a 2-year unlimited-mile warranty on any tire... considering how I drive around 600 miles a week, that's not a bad deal. If I brought the tires in myself (with the cost of shipping from tirerack, plus the 60 bucks they'd charge for the mount + balance) it's just cheaper to get the tires through them... and I get the warranty while saving money.
