Hey everyone, haven't done much in the way of performance mods to the tC yet due to $ reasons, but a friend of mine recently came across a K&N cai and catback exhaust for $250 for both.

I tried searching the forums, but I could not come up with many posts w/ information regarding K&N intakes. I know w/o f/i performance gains will be minimal at best, but I just want a little something different than the stock tCs out there..w/o sounding ricey.

Does anyone have any input/opinions/suggestions regarding the cai and catback deal?
Does anyone know how it would sound? (I checked youtube, didn't find much in the way of K&N cai on tCs.

If you can get it for a good deal, go ahead. The K&N is probably on the bottom for tC performance... but the difference is pretty negligible... so you probably wouldn't even notice the difference.

Which exhaust is it? Generic shop made? Or an actual brand?

 

I've personally have had K&N filters screw up my MAF because they have an oily filter. I wouldn't recommend it unless they have a dry filter.

I used to be a big fan of K&N products.. and I still am, but not on MAF equipped cars.

 

I have an Injen which also uses the oiled filter... never had any issues. Have cleaned/oiled it twice since I've had it. I can understand how it would happen, but just don't think it's a major concern. I keep a can of MAF cleaner at the house though....

 

^^ yeah.. I didn't do that.. and after 9k miles my MAF was useless.. even after MAF cleaner.

Ya, it is. I've considered getting an AEM filter for it, but just haven't spent the $.
