Alright, I'm kinda fed up with my truck right now ('94 Sierra GMC) as it's terrible with gas and I just don't need a truck for anything (it's a first vehicle so I'm not complaining to much ^-^).

I'm 17 and in my senior year of high school, will be 18 in November (live in Ocala, FL). I'm thinking about getting a Scion, but I'm not sure what to do as this will be the first time I actually buy a vehicle. So I guess I'm just asking for advice on buying one, and figure this is a good place to ask. I'm especially interested in the xD. I've been looking around for awhile, and the Scions really stick out for me. The communities for them seem great, I love the customization, and the gas mileage is a helluva lot better than my truck!

So, can anyone offer some advice?

 

Its pure priced so you shouldn't have any problems in that department. I would go with an adult though since your still young and a dealer might try to shove a lot of warranties and other goodies you might never need and talk about them as free gold or at least someone that can tell you no when you need to hear it. If you want to hook the car up, I would recommend locating a manual one. Also shop around for a dealer, one thats friendly and you feel comfortable with, because most can located/order/trade for the vehicle you need if they do their job properly. Test drive all 3 cars too to make sure the xD is the right car for you, albeit is an awesome car :D its not for everyone. Good luck on your adventures

 

You'd have to bring someone along with you to get the car for a co-signer. Pretty sure someone as young as yourself doesn't have much of a credit history to go off of

Just note that they put $100 extra on the xD because of the costs to get the car from port to port then dealership. I wouldn't recommend getting modifications from the dealer either since you can almost always get them cheaper elsewhere.

 

Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely bring my dad who is a mechanic. I plan on just getting a stock one and modifying it myself later. Right now I'm just wanting to get something that will save me some money, especially when I start going to college. I'm having trouble with gas as it is.

How does the co-sign thing work? And yeah, I have no credit history. I pay insurance every month, but I pay it to my dad since I got it under his name (cheaper).

 

A co-signer is someone who helps with getting a better (hopefully) rate for the financing and also pledges that if you should fail to pay, it will hurt yours and their credit score.

 

your co signer also has to take on those payments u fail to make ; )
