I'm Baffled- Is this some kind of joke?....
My friend just took home a 2006 xA and there is a button next to the emergency brake. It looks OEM and has a picture of a cup with a straw and the letters "ILL" on it. The button seems to do nothing. what the heck is this?

look under the dash to see if there is an acrylic rod. its possible that the lights r still there. if not, some one took out the lights but left the button prolly so it wouldnt leave a hole.

The cup one is for the cupholder illumination. Put a water bottle (clear one w/ water) in the cup holder and turn it on... it should glow Blue, Red, Green or Amber.
Some luxury cars feature this too =P But it's usually in simple white... and is wired to the dome lamp controls instead of a switch.
