Your Xa changes as much as I change my underwear! By the way I like the new paint, maybe someday I will make it to another show to see it in person.

Default Door strips

Hi I am new to the forum...just bought my 2005 XA last week and love it. Saw your post about painting...my door strips on passenger side are a "streaked" gray/yellow color..is there paint you can buy for this as DIY??

If you paint the door stripes, you are just going to have the same problem... I covered mine in gray leather. Just cut them loose from behind and glue them back in when you are done.

Thanks oldmanatee...do you have any pics of how yours turned out? It sounds like a great idea I just don't know that I have the time to go to that extent...Guess I was hoping for a Quick Fix !! with paint...

The problem... my knee rested on the spear and rubbed the paint off

Solution: gray leather from the local fabric store....

not shown: black cord to soften the transition and hide the seams. Get some good adhesive and work in the sun on a warm day.

Hope this helps. It took maybe 2 hours per door, including taking the panels out and gluing them back in.

Default Great job

This is exactly what I was going to do next to my scion. I just bought it and the interior is not in great shape. So painting is definetly on the list. The black looks great and good job.

The leather on the door panel is a good idea, and looks really good. My car has the same spot worn from someones knee.

Thanks for the post and ideas.

Hey, I swear it wasn't my knee....

Good luck on the project, it's really simple, just take your time. Want some gray leather? I kinda over bought..
