View Full Version : Need new audio system in 06' tc...recommendations?
dundeal67 09-29-2008, 10:17 PM I have an 06' TC and I need to replace the stock tweeters, front speakers, rear speakers, and head unit (I have ipod upgraded head unit). I also have a crappy dual amp and jl w4.
Since I dont have much money, any recommendations on what should be replaced first?
ichibansf 09-29-2008, 10:29 PM What do you mean by "need to replace"? Are they broken? The last thing you should replace are the rear speakers. Mine are actually removed and I don't miss them at bit.
dundeal67 09-29-2008, 10:32 PM Ichibansf, they are not broken or anything...I just don't like how everything sounds.
Dr_Isotope 09-30-2008, 12:09 AM A system can only sound as good as it's source. So, head unit first.
dundeal67 09-30-2008, 12:41 AM Dr Isotope, do you have any recommendations for a decent head unit?
dundeal67 09-30-2008, 08:48 PM Ok, I have narrowed it down to two decks....
Pioneer DEH-P7000BT

or
Alpine CDA-9886

which one you guys think is more worth it?
GammaTNT 09-30-2008, 10:05 PM $300 for a head unit is kinda expensive.
try the panasonic deck, It have usb port and plays mp3, it should be $140 on crutchfield.com
nebster 09-30-2008, 10:45 PM 9886 is a good calll
as far as speakers we'll talk about them when you have some real money, do not upgrade your speakers on a budget,

A pair of Pioneer TS-D1720C's would be quite a substantial upgrade and can be found on ebay for ~$100. Nothing breathtaking for sure, but a definite upgrade. I agree on the 9886 though, very good unit for the price. A Pioneer DEH-6000UB would also be a viable option in my opinion.
dundeal67 10-01-2008, 12:28 AM I'm pretty set on the CDA-9886 too, but the built in bluetooth on the 7000BT is too compelling...The thing that is stopping me from getting the 7000BT is that in all the reviews i have read, few mentioned about the SQ.
Any ideas on this? How much "better" if any is the alpine over the pioneer?
dundeal67 10-03-2008, 12:34 AM just ordered the 9886, i got about 500 left to spend on whatever i need....any ideas on what to improve next? should i replace the amp with a better one? Should I get the PXA-H100 to go along with the 9886?
dundeal67 10-09-2008, 05:39 AM ok..update...
Got:
Alpine CDA9886
Alpine 12" Type X
Alpine MRP-M1000
What next? Should I replace the stock components?
nebster 10-09-2008, 06:05 PM what you should do is get rid of the type x and get a better sub

What's wrong with the type x?
nodsetse 10-10-2008, 01:42 AM ^ Nothing "wrong" with it, neb is just being neb, he's just implying there are better subs out there...and probably thinks you should spend more to get one. If you like the type-x, then use it, it's your system, he doesn't have to listen to it.
advancespeedshop 10-11-2008, 12:25 AM type x isnt very efficient, but its a nice sounding sub if you have enough power going to it.
