nope. (toyota) finance guy was pretty lame, exact opposite of the (scion) salesman. had that sleezy "sign right here and you'll not not be enjoing your condo right away" type of feel... when he started going on and on about how computers can fail, or blah blah blah I almost stood up and walked out. One of the main reasons I'm buying this car is b/c its made by toyota, and it has a 5 year, 60,000 mile powertrain warranty... you mean to tell me you're selling a piece of crap that will fall apart in 3 years and 1 day??

but that's just me...

Would never buy an extended warranty on a car. Put that money into accessories or a Roth IRA......... Play the odds which are 98% that you will NEVER use the extended warranty. I would think about it if the odds were much less.

def not worth the money if u ask me, the 36k bumper to bumper one should be enough if anything come up during that and well the 60k powertrain should suffice after that one...eventually u will invest in something like a turbo or a supercharger which will send ur extended warranty down the crapper, i know im going to be modding my engine seriously internals and all after the 60k warranty is over, for now just minor bolt on and stuff like that....i have confidence that the TC will be a good car to me hence the toyota reputation...but if u want peace of mind and wont due without it and if u really have money to throw away, be my guest and get urself some extended warranty

I think this has been covered several times, and everyone always ends up flaming eachother. I didn't buy it, I felt it was a Toyota product, and I've not had any problems with the used Corolla I bought before this car. And that's exactly what I told the dealer.

I did a 7 year 75k ... The way I see it, this is the car's first year out. Although Toyota is quality cars, better safe than sorry!

I'd maybe look at it that way if this was a total new car with total new components. Since it uses the Camry engine and tranny, both are rocksolid, borrows suspension parts from the Celica, built on the Avensis chasis... I just didn't think it would be worth it. Anything that the 3 year doesn't cover more than likely won't give you trouble.

Extended warranties, like all insurance, is genereally a bad idea unless you are in a financial condition where you are unable to absorb a repair cost.

The simple fact is that the premiums are used to pay all claims with plenty left over to pay the people administering the warranty and to provide a profit for their shareholders.

Also:

1. The typical extended warranty covers the powertrain, which is already covered by Toyota for the first 50,000 miles. If a part makes it to 50K, it will likely make it past 100K with no problems.

2. If your car is totaled or stolen, kiss your extended warranty goodbye. For this reason, if you are going to buy an extended warranty wait until the factory warranty is nearly expired before putting your money down. You do not have to buy the extended warranty when the car is new.

3. Consumer organizations have found that the dealer is the worst place to by extended warranties. Their prices are very high.

4. The warranty is only as good as the company backing it. If the company folds, you are left holding the bag.

I always get a kick out of the F&I guy who, minutes after the salesman tells you the car is as reliable as a brick, tells you the horror stories of how easily the same car breaks and how much it costs to fix.

The extended warranties are a rip, just like they are at good guys and all the other places that try to push them. The finance guy almost got me to say yes to GAP insurance, but I knew better. The only thing he had that really interested me was LoJack, but why pay $100 more to get it from him, then I would if I just called LoJack directly.

They told me I didn't have a choice on GAP since I only put $500 down.

Crazy. I had 0 down and 5.25% interest - didn't require the gap insurance but I got that anyways. I did also get the extended warranty but I'm considering cancelling that. I know that I will get most of it back, because if you cancel it you get the full refund minus how long you've had it. I've had the car since September so I'll get the amount minus 4 months.

I had it on a 96 accord.

My power windows failed- they said to pound sand

My ABS computer failed- they said to go screw my self again

I canceled my warranty and got half my money back and used the cash to help pay for the repairs

If you have an extended warranty cancel now and get as much back as you can
