DPS has rolled out mobile cameras throughout the state, and they're now starting to put up stationary cameras too. When finished, there will be a total of 60 stationary cameras and 40 mobile ones throughout Arizona.

If you get a ticket for going 10 miles over the speed limit, you'll pay $181.

Bear in mind that your trusty radar detector does not work on permanently installed speed cameras; they aren't radar: the sensors are embedded in the roadway and physically pace you. Your detector will work and give warning of the roadside vans which use actual radar.

Here's where to be careful – but of course, you're always careful!

Hrm, I was on the 17 north and southbound earlier and I didn't see any camera's. Also, everybody was doing at least 80 because I was getting passed doing 70-75. Has anyone actually seen all of these camera and know they are all up, or is this just the list of where they will be when they are done?

Its only a matter of time until CA uses the camera idea. Lol

N a week ago I wuz going 65 on the 101 north and I got flashed by some van that had a camera on top of it. Portable cameras, I think its just getting out of hand. The economy is down and still our city tries to take money from us with cheap things like this.

This is good old Janet's way of trying to balance the budget! Instead of charging another tax, she will do it this way. This way she can say she balanced the budget without raising taxes! This is not a city thing, it is a State thing. Notice all are on state highways.

I know that I am not from this area, but I heard about this stuff on the radio, it may be a nice tool for you guys to defeat the cameras. Good luck, and the camera stuff sucks!

Yeah I was on the 101 headed west and saw the cameras and they work and are operating. They have makeshift signs warning you but no one pays enough attention to those. Be careful! Let's all meet up and disassemble them lol :D

Saw multiple flashes last night on the way home from Coyotes game on I-10 between 75th Ave & 27th. Luckily none were me. They had some mobile vans set up, & there are a ton of fixed ones installed, though they didn't look to be active yet. You can tell by the patches accross the road for the sensors. Also saw a couple mobile vans last Friday on I-17 around camelback/Ind Skool. Crappiest thing about them is that they back up traffic even more now, 'cause everyone drops down to the exact speed limit. Photo radar = the suck. Also, saw a trick TCM xB at Greenfield & Germann area about 5:30 PM yesterday. I was in a blacked out Aviator w/black wheels. I flashed the lights out of habit. I'm a dork like that. Dude prolly thought I was bein a dick...//TJ

The guys installing these things is a Company called B&F contracting. They are isntalling most of them and I am a good friend with the Superintendent overseeing the work. So the case in point is that the Magic numbers for these things are 7 over on the freeway and 11 over on the intersections. The earlier post are true, there is no"Radar" to use. They work on a Video sensor combo with a motion sensor. There is a Radar detector that has a build in GPS adaptor that has all these locations uploaded and saved. Will warn when entering the area. Good Luck to tall and keep an eye out. The photo stations going up north (Flagg, Prescott,Show low) are going to be color matched to the background to blend in and thus making them even harder to spot!!!

I got caught by the red light camera at 83rd and union and got the whole shpeel in the mail with my 4 pics and what not.

It says on the city of peoria website that if the front of the car is passed the red line, then it's fine to be in the intersection. My front tires are on the red line.

They want $220 for it.

I absolutely hate the idea of having these contraptions, all it does is basically give people a free pass to speed before and after them, or in my case it gives people more courage to run red's at other intersections without the cameras.

At 1.8s I was already out of the intersection after the red light... the other lights don't turn green for like 2 full seconds or more after the red is up.

Anyway i'll be asking for school or something because $220 for nothing is a total waste to me.

Check the signs, I drive that every day, right after Mr. Napolitano decided to drop the speed limit from 65 to 55, 50 yards later........cameras. Goes back up to 65 after you go under the 17 after you pass 24th st, ironically right where another camera is set up.

Tint your windshield. Me and the girl both have ours done and we have flashed by the mobile units and still no ticket. They flash reflects off the windshield tint making the picture worthless. And yes it's illegal as can be, but I've been pulled over by DPS and the officer didn't say anything about my windshield tint as he's staring at it, only worried about my side tint.

Hmm.. any % of darkness or just UV tint or?

They still got your license plate picture.. I don't see why they need your face. Interesting

Those cameras get your speed too. I didnt mean to run the red so I didn't speed up, caught me doing 30 taking the left turn. If I was really getting on it to make the red on purpose I could easily do it at 55mph or better. Of course I won't tell the judge that as an excuse. :D

i almost want to wear a mask and tip the camera just to see if i get a ticket lol

Fight it. If it's that close, they will most likely dismiss it. I had the same thing happen awhile back in Mesa @ Country Club/Southern, & fought it & they threw it out. I went down to the courthouse to tell them I was going to contest it & they tossed it on the spot. Never even had to go to court. At the very least, they will reduce the fine by 1/2 just to try & get you out of there. I missed the light by .1, my front bumper had crossed through the crosswalk, & I was only doing 35 MPH...not sure which of those factors helped...//TJ

I can just go to the court house and tell them I want to contest it at any time before my court date?

If thats the case i'll go by there ASAP and tell them I want to fight the ticket ASAP, and see if they do something for me.

I still got $47 left of a hefty speeding ticket fine that I got about 5 months ago that was also bogus but I needed more proof on my end. No witnesses or nothing so I paid it. $400. Couldn't find myself to write them a check for that much money when I wasnt wrong so i've been doing 75/month payments. Maybe I should pay the rest and it'll make me look better.

Yep, I think you can go in anytime & tell them you are going to contest it. Speeding tickets = the 4 * suck. Good luck...//TJ
