Help: how do you replace the 3rd brake light bulb on a 2006 XB?. I can remove the black plastic housing, but, soes the grey bulb housing unscrew? Thanks

 

that's pretty funny. I was looking at doing mine today too, and thought i might search.

I agree that the bulb housing is not very intuitive. they usually either rotate 1/4 turn and pop out, but this one is clearly different.

all u hav to do is twist it twards u (if the hatch is open)
adn it should pop out

 

ok, it's def a 1/4 turn counterclockwise (while facing the housing). I took the two 10mm bolts off, and carefully popped out the anchor clips. once off, you can easily see the other side of the bulb housing, and it's a 1/4 turn.

 

I took my 3rd brake light out to tint the rear window....when i went to put it back it in, it just falls out of the holes. That was a year ago. Its still sitting in a drawer in the shed.

I tried a few weeks ago, larger screws, double stick, double stick and larger screws. Its back in the drawer.

 

Some of you should buy Snowromance's LED 3rd brakelight mod like I did. You wouldn't have to worry about changing any bulbs...
