Default Whill new shocks help soften ride?

I have trd springs already on which helped out, but I would like things to be a bit softer.

What shocks should I get that won't drop my box lower?

I'm not sure your butt's being very honest with you. The TRD springs are in fact firmer than stock. Maybe what you're feeling is a sense of being more planted to the ground and less jitteriness. I think shocks will have an additive effect to your springs. In other words, the ride won't get any softer but it will feel more stable. Shocks will not change the height of the car.

I believe the only options out there right now are the TRD set and the Tokico set. I like the Tokico set based on price alone. My friend has the same type of shock on is car (not a scion) and it handles very well.

Edit: OK on second thought, I've never ridden on the TRD springs so maybe the progressive design can feel a little softer under the right conditions. But when you drive more aggressively it should stiffen up. I have had the Eibach Pro Kit and Tanabe NF210 springs and the NFs are very cushy. You might like them better than the TRDs, which are reported to be 10% stiffer than stock whereas the NF210s are no more than 5% stiffer than stock (did I get that right CIONIDE?).

I have heard good things about replacing the shocks but also people saying that they do absolutely nothing , I would test it out myself If I had the spare cash to put it to rest. If I had my choice I would test out a set from koni or manroe if there available.

Yup, you got it right. And yes, because of the progressive design just about any aftermarket spring will feel softer and ride better over small bumps and roadway expansion joints. When going through turns though, they will reach the stiffer spring rates and resist roll much better than OEM.

I was going to say that you might have been better off with the NF210's myself, but I think people might be getting tired of hearing my praise for them. Thanks for doing it for me rockthebeef. :D
