Gmonroe80 11-05-2008, 03:50 AM Being a black man i am very proud to see history today, but what sent chills up my spine was when they announced he won and they went thru the crowd and you see whites, hispanics, blacks, asians, all colors crying and yelling that he won, thats a good thing. GOD BLESS AMERICA!! Jenna 11-05-2008, 03:53 AM Being a black man i am very proud to see history today, but what sent chills up my spine was when they announced he won and they went thru the crowd and you see whites, hispanics, blacks, asians, all colors crying and yelling that he wont, thats a good thing. GOD BLESS AMERICA!! What got me about McCain's acceptance speech was that he said something about it being historical and how blacks (maybe he used the more PC term) are proud. People of EVERY race are proud you f00ker! I need a transcript to find it. It really ____ed me off. trentonm 11-05-2008, 03:56 AM but overall, you have to admit his speech he made tonight, was impressive. and gained just a bit more respect from me because of it. he hushed his own supports, saying "come on" Also, it showed a lot about fans. With my father's death, I inherited crab fishing quotas. These quotas bring in an amazingly huge amount of money with each crab season. But, before we see the dividends, a good percentage is skimmed off the top and redistributed to Alaskan natives. That's not just regular tax either. Just another fun fact of big bad socialism that is a regular event in Sarah's state. I wonder how much of a say she had over the crab revitalization act and all the special taxes on profit made from crab fishing. Not that we need any more hypocriticalness about the McCain campaign or anything. johns07tc 11-05-2008, 04:31 AM OBAMA 2008!!!!!! historic day today NYNCTC 11-05-2008, 04:39 AM YES WE CAN!!! So wait, just because he: - didn't wear a pin until people like you and the MSM jumped down his throat about it - doesn't say the Pledge - doesn't cover his heart during the Anthem - started saying "god bless America" only after people like you and the MSM jumped down his throat about it That means he's power hungry? Not only did you make a huge unfounded leap there between not wearing a pin and being "power hungry", but you realize all of that is laughably trite, right? OH NO, HE DOESN'T WEAR A PIN, RAISE THE TERROR LEVEL. Race should not be a factor in anyone's reason to vote for him by any stretch of the imagination, but the fact that he did get voted into office is actually quite a big deal. pickledchang 11-05-2008, 01:22 PM can i get the red bar under my name changed to a blue bar? lol. firesquare 11-05-2008, 01:27 PM 1st time i got to vote at 18 1st time I picked the right pres. and your vote made a difference too :-) firesquare 11-05-2008, 01:32 PM Canada is looking good for the few that are REALLY upset. i was thinking about Cananda myself earlier in the year. too much downfall from EVERYTHING was going on. trentonm 11-05-2008, 02:28 PM He refused to wear a "Stars and Stripes" lapel pin. Race should not be a factor in anyone's reason to vote for him by any stretch of the imagination, but the fact that he did get voted into office is actually quite a big deal. I bet if we took an honest vote, the majority here, dont have their hand over their heart. There are two options when listening to our national anthem, hand over the heart or hands down at your side/behind back. Unless of course we are in kindergarten, then our teachers slap your wrists. But thank god we have graduated from that level of education (oh wait, our media hasn't, since they thought that was a big deal). When this man was born, blacks were not allowed to vote. He was 3 years old when they had their first chance to get an American right that we all cherish today (well the 40% that actually vote on a consistent basis). It is pathetic to see the people that followed McCain toward candidacy, be children afterward. Everyone, even Obama supporters, should take a hint about McCain, and have class/respect. We have to realize that no matter who took office, we are better off than the past 8 years, when our vote didn't really matter, when the majority surprisingly didn't win the election. But last night, in a true sign of a united country, we were able to elect a minority to office with an unifying and massive yes. We are not divided no longer, we will have an above 50% approval rating for our president, the one that we elected. So get the slander, get the hatred, get the bigotry out. There is no need to bring in KKK crap, talks about assassination, or ANY of it. Its not NEEDED! karatekidd 11-05-2008, 02:46 PM Obama is so much more than a President-elect.... He's an Icon...a symbol! Think of the children that watched the election last night and said, "wow, maybe I could be president." Obama is not perfect, I'm Black and don't agree with everything he says....but he and his family are a beacon of what this country needs right now to get back on track as a Super Power. He was raised in a single-parent, middle class family...just like MANY of you...He will surround himself with the right people to balance out his inequalities and short comings about foreign policy, etc. Stop with the talks of hate...we've come too far...He will be your President too and you should support his administration or contest it...you have that right! Be proud today that you witnessed something so great...the WORLD celebrated with us.....today is the first step in a better direction for ALL Americans, not just minorities. firesquare 11-05-2008, 02:49 PM well said! bbcrud 11-05-2008, 02:54 PM lol http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3270/3003946529_5ddeefd50d_o.jpg That is one of the most beautiful photos I have ever seen in my near 50 years. firesquare 11-05-2008, 03:05 PM depending on how or who is singing that national anthem (i watch a lot of NASCAR) it usually will bring down a tear or two. especially when a child sings it. taps? i can't handle it. when i was a volunteer fireman from 99-04. i would march in our memorial day parade and every time i marched past a group of kids holding and waving American flags it means oh so much to be in this country. i heard in a few countries they don't show as much patriotism as we do. count the American flags in your town. their is a lot isn't there :-) bbcrud 11-05-2008, 03:07 PM He refused to wear a "Stars and Stripes" lapel pin. He only started saying, "God Bless America" after the media aired the statements made by his Pastor. I only see a person that is power hungry, not color of skin. I hope when he takes the oath of office with his hand on the Bible, that it is truly heart felt. I also hope my worries are un-warranted, and he does well for our nation. this is exactly why i dont want him anywhere near the presidency. i couldnt care less what race he was, but this right here is what bothers me the most. Well, I have some good news for you both. That ONE incident, where he forgot to place his hand over his heart, is countered by dozens and dozens of photos and videos from BEFORE that day where he did. As for the Bible reference, that's just ignorance talking. You both should be happy to know that Obama is christian. You can stop listening to the anti-Obama garbage that was being spewed all over the place. As for power hungery? You can say that about everyone that runs for office. Or, if you really want to be part of the healing, you can watch Obama carefully as he puts together a bipartisan cabinet that will include Republicans and Democrats, then realize that this is no ordinary politician. Here's a stat for us all to consider. The youth vote, supposedly an Obama cornerstone, was only up 1% over 2004. Yet Obama carried 5% more white voters than Kerry did 4 years ago. That should be loud and clear. Obama carried Virginia. That's an exclamation point like no other. CharredEarth 11-05-2008, 03:18 PM Canada is looking good for the few that are REALLY upset. i was thinking about Cananda myself earlier in the year. too much downfall from EVERYTHING was going on. Hey! don't send 'em up here. We've got enough non-tolerant people up here. We don't need more. Congrats to Obama and the Dems. Happy to see it. Corsi © 2007 WorldNetDaily.com Ex-Mexican President Vicente Fox last night on CNN Former Mexican President Vicente Fox confirmed the existence of a plan conceived with President Bush to create a new regional currency in the Americas, in an interview last night on CNN's "Larry King Live." It possibly was the first time a leader of Mexico, Canada or the U.S. openly confirmed a plan for a regional currency. Fox explained the current regional trade agreement that encompasses the Western Hemisphere is intended to evolve into other previously hidden aspects of integration. According to a transcript published by CNN, King, near the end of the broadcast, asked Fox a question e-mailed from a listener, a Ms. Gonzalez from Elizabeth, N.J.: "Mr. Fox, I would like to know how you feel about the possibility of having a Latin America united with one currency?" Fox answered in the affirmative, indicating it was a long-term plan. He admitted he and President Bush had agreed to pursue the Free Trade Agreement of the Americas – a free-trade zone extending throughout the Western Hemisphere, suggesting part of the plan was to institute eventually a regional currency. "Long term, very long term," he said. "What we proposed together, President Bush and myself, it's ALCA, which is a trade union for all the Americas." (Story continues below) ALCA is the acronym for the Area de Libre Comercio de las Américas, the name of the FTAA in Spanish. King, evidently startled by Fox's revelation of the currency, asked pointedly, "It's going to be like the euro dollar (sic), you mean?" "Well, that would be long, long term," Fox repeated. Fox noted the FTAA plan had been thwarted by Hugo Chavez, the radical socialist president of Venezuela. "Everything was running fluently until Hugo Chavez came," Fox commented. "He decided to combat the idea and destroy the idea." Fox explained that he and Bush intended to proceed incrementally, establishing FTAA as an economic agreement first and waiting to create an amero-type currency later – a plan he also suggested was in place for NAFTA itself. "I think the process to go, first step is trading agreement," Fox said. "And then further on, a new vision, like we are trying to do with NAFTA." Fox's reply to the CNN viewer was captured in a clip posted on YouTube.com. CNN posted video of the interview but did not include the segment with questions from viewers. Last week, WND reported BankIntroductions.com, a Canadian company that specializes in global banking strategies and currency consulting, is advising clients the amero may be the currency of North America within 10 years. Coin designer Daniel Carr has issued for sale a series of private-issue fantasy pattern amero coins that have drawn attention on the Internet. WND also reported the African Union is moving down the path of regional economic integration, with the African Central Bank planning to create the "Gold Mandela" as a single African continental currency by 2010. The Council on Foreign Relations has supported regional and global currencies designed to replace nationally issued currencies. In an article in the May/June issue of Foreign Affairs, entitled "The End of National Currency," CFR economist Benn Steil asserts the dollar is a temporary currency. Steil concluded "countries should abandon monetary nationalism," moving to adopt regional currencies, on the road to a global "one world currency." WND previously reported Steve Previs, a vice president at Jeffries International Ltd. in London, said the amero "is the proposed new currency for the North American Community which is being developed right now between Canada, the U.S., and Mexico." A video clip of the CNBC interview in November with Jeffries is now available at YouTube.com. WND also has reported a continued slide in the value of the dollar on world currency markets could set up conditions in which the adoption of the amero as a North American currency gains momentum. There are so many case-sensitive matters that are unknown to Americans. I doubt he will be able to end the war. I don't care whether we end the war or not. I just want to see another country have the same opportunities we have, but in saying that let me say that I don't think we should've gone there Unconstitutionally like we did. Unfortunately, BOTH sides are to blame for the war we are in. As Americans we need to continue to put pressure on the powers that be to enforce our Constitution and laws, not change them as they see fit. Also, every person (whether they are a politician or not) needs to remind themselves daily that they are accountable for themselves and if they do something wrong it is their fault. We have free will, but with free will comes consequences. If you can't handle the consequences for te action you are about to partake in don't do it! EXACTLY.... firesquare 11-08-2008, 05:14 PM i would love to be part of his projected green energy movement. that is a lot of jobs all over. plus then next generation scientist will study energy and how to harness it without creating a lot of harmful emissions. plus i need a good paying job. im unemployed. like the few million in the USA this year :-/ it was also said he is now president of the economy from hell. i don't think it can get worse. If Mr. Obama pushes the social programs into reality it can get worse. It econmically doesn't make sense. We first have to get out of our deficit. If we don't do that first (you have to do plenty more than pull out of Iraq) in order to worry about the social programs. Not starting a fight. Stating the truth. P.S. Always remember in satire (that Onion News Network video), there is more truth than in reality. Firesquare, I have NO problem with finding a way to create not only more jobs, but more energy. I would like to point out that many Environmentalists want to get rid of oil all together...right now! I am totally against that. I say do it all, but as of right now oil is our most viable means to energy. So, let's not get rid of it when we have no backup! That's like quitting a job before have a backup one ready in line. It's not a smart move. Also, global wamring is b.s. All this caron buildup and poop is what plants need to thrive...polar bear numbers are up and so are the ice caps. It's just a ploy to tax people more. yeah oil we do need. but soon, maybe not in our life time but we'll be out of oil soon. so we do need to find a back up plan. yes it will cost us more but it will help everyone in teh long run. E-85.... if the USA will get more in step with this E-85, i think it will be good. BUT... for our consumption of fuel we would have to import E-85 still! Brazil is a large producer of E-85. the global warming is real. the core temp of the earth is up 2 or 3 degrees on average. and thats bad (i guess) i watch too much weather channel  bbcrud 11-08-2008, 10:45 PM How about his idea of how the governmant should be structured? Electric, hydrogen, and biodiesel powered cars ARE the future. If we're going to phase out gasoline, we can't just phase into a gasoline derivative, when gasoline-free power is going to eventually take over anyway. Why not just skip the middle step and go straight into the last? You know what would be perfect for the Big Three? Instead of us giving them $25bn collectively and GM another $50bn, why don't they merge into one company with some snazzy name, and have them dedicate the entire company to developing fuel efficient cars and furthering fuel efficient research. If anyone wants to discuss the specifics and logistics of this, I'm gonna ramble on here (http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=238251&start=20) about it. firesquare 11-09-2008, 05:29 AM General Ford Motor company?? i still likeSaabaru! that is also very true. in 2001 i bout a ford focus hatchback.. gas was awesome in 2001 from what i remember. but i can only get 27-29MPG's in 2001 they had 3 SUV's the F-series trucks and E series vans. don't forget the configurations you can get with the E and F series now :-\ with all that money put into massive size trucks and SUV's make me a $14,000 hatchback that can get easily over 40MPG. why not ford? and GM hey you, who wants a Suburban Hybrid? isn't that an oxymoron? 65,000 dollars? and how about the "clones" that GM has. do you really need 3 different GM minivans?? or 3 Full size trucks like the Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade? this is not necessary. the Caddy Escalade hybrid cost over 100,000. C'mon GM think smart. I don't want to pay for this Bailout plan but im going to somehow.. i hope Obama knows whats he's in for :nails: CDogbert 11-09-2008, 06:29 AM I just hope Obama doesn't get suckered into the "BUT THE JOBS!!!" argument in not bailing out these companies. GM and Ford have made notoriously bad decisions this decade (including GM hiring way, way too many people), and were in sharp decline before the bailout was even rumored to happen. Bailing them out is only going to waste taxpayer money when they eventually go under. bbcrud 11-11-2008, 08:44 PM How about his idea of how the governmant should be structured? At the same time, Obama's only option is to bail out whoever employs lots of people and will need bailing out in the next year or so, even private companies (like Chrysler). Why? So millions of people don't lose their jobs in his first year as president. Furthermore, the government will have to buy up all the bad loans out there so people don't go homeless in his first term as president. The democrats have the majority, so it's pretty much a done deal. There is another option, actually: Obama could bail out the workers themselves, and let the companies fall into bankruptcy. I mean, all everyone is concerned about are the workers at those companies, right? Instead of giving $50bn to GM to "re-tool" themselves again, we could give just $15bn to the 266,000 employees, who could use that money while they find a new job or train for a new line of work... and let whoever buys them up in bankruptcy "re-tool" them as they see fit. If we have to be a part of this bail out, we might as well do it like this... but that would be socialism, right? burstaneurysm 11-11-2008, 10:19 PM 'Ronbo' is Obama's head dog, and Pelosi sits atop her throne, and people are hoping the Republicans don't play party politics? You let the companies fall, and give $220,000 to all of those 266,000 employees, and they'd use the money alot wiser than the heads of Ford, GM, or Chrysler. It may sound like socialism, but it isn't any -ism if you don't have a say in the matter. Whether it's socialism, marxism, capitalism, communism, whatever... they're taking $50bn from us. Instead let's use a plant that grows out of control if you allow it to and is not a food source. Like...HEMP! http://www.hemp4fuel.com firesquare 11-12-2008, 01:18 PM i didn't read the article but this reminds me of a Simpsons episode where Ralph made a car run on alcohol, and Homer imagined one pump for the car, two pumps for him. the other problem with the Ethanol fuel is look at how many cars are on the road now, a very small percentage of the cars are E-85 compatible. my xB states not to run anything over E-10. i have also yet to see a Ethanol fueling station in my area. and what is the benefit really? just cleaner air? i want to know if its going to save 8-10 cents a gallon. its renewable save me some coinage! their are to many what if's in my mind with ethanol. does Toyota even manufacture a car in the US that's E-85 compatible? maybe the green movement thing is for another thread. i dunno. if Obama wants to tackle it,start with something easy, the zillions of vehicles we have in the US and the older factories and what not excuse my rambling, i just finished my first cup of coffee this morning... burstaneurysm 11-12-2008, 02:31 PM Flex-Fuel vehicles get 25% less mileage off of a tank of E-85 vs standard gas... Also, most FFVs are vehicles with crappy mileage anyway. I've only seen one E-85 station within a 10 mile radius of my house. vettereddie 11-12-2008, 05:59 PM Yay politics! Looks like we're having three discussions here. 1) Obama's policies and his cabinet selection 2) Congress / Fed handling of the "bailout" 3) Flex-fuel / E-85 Maybe we need some new threads? For Obama, I have a lot more faith in him than our current pres. For those worried about him going WAY left in the judge appointees, remember he has a constitutional law degree from Harvard. His stance on appointees is also no litmus test; nominate to Court based on their fairness. The problem is neocons thing that center is too far left. On foriegn policy, his bachelors was in political science with an international relations specialization. Biden is also the chair of the Foriegn Relations senate committee. On the federal bailout, giving direct aid to the workers is NOT a good idea. The federal aid given to Katrina victims was a good lesson in how NOT to spend an aid stipend. The $600 / person "economic stimulous package" under Bush had similar results. How manypeople here used their check to reduce their debt as opposed to buying something new to their car? What is needed is debt restructuring for the mortgage market so homeowners aren't stuck with toxic upsidedown loans. The banks lose more money on forclosure than on restructuring, they just aren't willing to gamble unlsess mortgages are federally-insured. We do not care only about the employees of GM, we care about GM, and for good reason. They are half of the domestic auto market, and if they fall, so will the steel producers, tire plants, electronics and glass makers, dealerships, service centers (GM and Jiffy Lube) etc. as suddenly their sales drop in half. Adding to the problem is the union's stranglehold on wages combined with corporate raiding of pension funds which now need to be paid back. Loosening credit on qualified car buyers will help so long as they don't finance those unable to pay for the car loan. Regulation, and more importantly ENFORCEMENT can help this. 3) Ethanol sucks. It has a smaller energy density than gas, costs more to produce currently and requires vehicle conversion in high concentration. Making it from food was even stupider and a giant payoff to the agricultural lobby (I'm not talking Zeke and his family farm, I'm talking huge corporate enterprises that do NOT need the Fed's help). The hemp thing rings true, it is an ideal rotational crop to re-enrich soil, and only contains trace THC. You'd die from crrbon monoxide poisoning before you smoked enough to get high. But because our stupid laws do not differentiate the AMMOUNT of THC, it remains illegal. For fuel, hydrogen and plug-ins will be the future, but need planned infrastructure, agressive cost-offset policies of the administration, and a clean source of energy to produce the electricity or hydrogen to power them. Maybe they could take all the laid off auto workers and have them build critical infrastructure, public works is not an evil thing as is much better than handing out cash for nothing. 1GreeKtC 11-12-2008, 07:25 PM ^ what he said....without creating anymore threads on this please. :) Sciond 11-12-2008, 07:44 PM going sideways so locked |
