Hi guys,
As odd as this may seem, I'm thinking about switching out my SPFR cold air intake back to stock. The reason is that my bumper has taken many casualties into pieces, and the entire fender liner as well as all the mounts are completely gone. Due to this I have had to make a somewhat shield to cover my intake filter from my wheel, yet this does not seem to work well. My filter keeps getting way dirty, and replacing the fender liner and bumper together is not in my budget at the moment. So now that that is explained...
I was looking at the stock intake and I see this extending snorkel that seems redundant or limiting the air flow. Has anyone heard of removing this piece or if they believe it would help or worsen? If i do switch back, I am for sure going to install a drop in K&N filter.

Ideas? Opinions?

That particular piece is a noise baffel( read a restriction) took mine off improved flow, especially when added to a K&N filter. Before my Typhoon
this same piece was also in the airbox of my old mini van, removing it increased the flow and hp, we had the fastest Voyager around ( with a few other mods)
removing it only lets it flow better and makes a little more intake noise.

on my xa:
i have a drop-in k&n filter and got the intake pipe removed (the one outside the box not the one u r referring to) if u want i can post a pic..
i get a cool noise when i floor-it only
about the one inside i am not sure.. coz i think u have to cut it not just snap it out.. and i beleive the sensor is located within the pipe so removing could make the situation risky for the sensor thats just my idea aint sure..
