Help in choosing height for those buying short shifters
Mods, I mainly put this in this section because it has to do with appearance. Feel free to move it.
First off, I would HIGHLY recommend Doctor Isotope's shifters. Any package, as long as its Doc's. And mainly because you can custom order the height. www.doctorisotope.com
Second, When I was buying mine, I had problems with figuring out what height reduction to get so it would look good.
For best results, when deciding I would:
1. Pick out the **** you want. In my case it was the trd ball ****. http://www.trdsparks.com/displaypart...&parts_id=1133
2. Next, I would wait for the **** to come in. Upon arriving, put the **** on the stock shifter in place of the oem ****. (I know it might look a little goofy, in my case i had the boot, about 2 inches of shaft, and then the ****!)
3. Measure from the top of the **** to where you would like the top of the **** to be after installing the short shifter. Whatever that measurement comes to is what reduction you should buy. Note, Doc's reductions come in .5" increments with the lowest being 3in.
Turns out, whereas I was thinking I was going to want around a 1.5in reduction, I got the 3in reduction and it's absolutely EXACTLY how I wanted it to look. I know that waiting to get the **** until ordering the shifter may extend the process a while,
but to get exactly what you want, it makes it absolutely worth it. And in the mean-time just get used to your new **** while waiting on your shifter. I would also recommend trying to find a weighted **** so as to make shifts easier after installing the short shifter. Doc sells those too!
Enjoy. Hope this helps someone.

i ordered a gear switcher last week from Doc...should be here soon
cant wait to put it on hahah...i opted for a 2" reduction just out of a random guess and "a good sounding" number cuz it was somewhere in the middle.
I dunno about the TRD ball ****. I had originally ordered it and the thing was so tiny and showed about 1/4 of the stock shifter. I returned it and got this one instead:

Once my springs and sway bar is installed, the short shifter might be my next upgrade, that or a pedestal spoiler for looks/fog lights(decisions decisions). But I heard a lot of good things about dociso.

just be sure if you install a **** with plastic fittings that self thread to turn it on no farther than it is recomended as I stripped my TRD one out the first time I took it off it would not go back on as the plastic threads stripped, dealership took it back though even though it was my fault and gave me a differant one.
