Default oem foglight question

I have a '08 tc with the oem foglights and all of the clips that attach the bumper from the fog light assembly fell off. Anyone know where i can buy replacement clips? Or is there a way to mount the foglights without using them? I called the dealer and it's $5/clip

If i were you i would just take it to the dealer and tell them that it fell off and make them do it... That's if they installed the fog lights...

It did come from the dealer but wouldn't they charge me for it? I think that would be seen as my fault seeing as they fell out from hitting ice chunks during a bad storm

Are you talking about the metal clips that press in from the back? If so, the fogs will still snap into the bumper and stay in place, but just not as well if anything hits them.

I hit a cone wall running about 50 mph during an autox run and knocked my fog grill out, losing the metal clips. For a while, I just had them in by pressing them back onto their locking tabs on the bumper. They held fine that way unless they took a direct cone hit. So you can put them in without the metal clips until you get more.

Actually, you can do it without even taking the splash gaurds out. You just have to get them lined up with the lip on the bumper and pull firmly so they snap into place.

Glad it helped!

They should stay in pretty well unless they are hit by something. That will do until you get the metal clips. And the good thing is that if they do get knocked out, they will just lie there on the splash gaurds.

Do you know where i can get the metal clips or how much they would be? The guy from the dealer sounded pretty confused on the phone

the clips for the grille and fogs are kinda like "built in" so to say into the bumper....im not sure that you can get them....there are other clips you can get but in your case the clips or metal things that you need/want are already on the bumper

The metal clips are not part of the bumper. They press in from the back of the fog grill after it is snapped into place on the bumper to hold it in place tightly. Some peoples fogs were installed by a dealer without these from what I have heard. So their fogs are easier to knock out

The dealer is probably the best place unless you can find them on McMaster Carr

Sounds like you dont have the metal clips either bigwillystyle

This is the part I am referring to

They go through the slots in the back of the fog light frame and press onto the bumper lip.
