Default Whats your experience with Airbag Recall?

So...I've had this letter for a while now to get my tC airbags redone correctly or whatever. I didn't even know there was a problem until they sent it to me...the care seemed so safe .

I hear some people get rattling noises after having the airbags done cuz they don't do it right or something. I'm just wondering if I should even bother to bring it in...

uhm...they are your airbags, in the event of a an accident they are there to protect you.

i don't remember the details, but it is some bizarre sequence of events can accidentally set the air bags off.

just go and get it done, when you get your car back, make sure you inspect all the pillars to make sure the upholstery isn't dirty like they left it on a grease spot on the shop floor, and if you hear some additional rattles from the side air bag pillars, bring it back. simple enough.

Dam man........I dont trust these poeople.... Isn't it possible for them to use do a sloppy job, not care about the rattling, and then you are kinda forced to go back and fix it and actually pay them this time around to do something? A way for them to try to make money off you?

no, it isn't, if you take your car in and it does not have a pre-existing rattle coming from the air bags, and upon completion of the recall it does, then they are obligated to fix it because it was something they did that caused it to rattle.

if they have a problem with that, call scion corporate. if you don't trust your dealership, find one you do trust, read consumer reports and reviews of different dealerships.

i didnt get any new rattle. I did get in a minor front end with in a week of owning my car though, and the air bags didnt go off =(. By minor i mean i t-boned a guy that ran a red turn arrow. they recalled the airbags like the next week.

i can just see you dropping off your tc for the air bag recall, and as you turn around, the service director starts rubbing his hands together and saying "we have you now! mwahahahahaha" while you walk away!

Huh, airbag recall? I didn't get any notice...does it affect all tCs, just certain years, only side airbags or what?

are you talking the side air bag recall? that's a sensor in the doors. they take the interior plastic door panels off to replace the sensor. not the airbags themselves!!

So is it only for those with side airbags? That'd explain why I didn't get notification...

yeah the recall was for a sensor in the doors that was too sensitive and if you slammed the door too hard, the side airbags would deploy.

so they had a new sensor to put in there that wasn't that sensitive.
